Hi, I'm kinda new to CC making. I made a mesh edit of the Eco Lifestyle Jeans that I really LOVE and I wanted to add an accessory belt. Sadly the specular map of the button underneath is showing through on the belt. I checked the Sort Layer, the jeans are on 14000 and the belt is on 17100. Any help would be appreciated ^^

Hi. When you export the specular, you get two files. The second one that ends with .mask should correspond to the alpha layer of your diffuse. I'm not sure how to explain it, but this mask is responsible for layering of specular maps. No idea why it is like that but it is like that....

The belt doesn't have a mesh, its just a texture laid on top of the jeans. The belt doesn't have any normal or specular maps assigned to it, gonna try to put some and see what happens.

Yes, that's why you should add it

I added the normal and specular map of the belt buckle, the button is still somehow showing through just a little bit.

This is the link to the belt , would appreciate it if someone could take a closer look. You can put it on top of the jeans that came with Eco Lifestyle to see the problem.

The shine comes from the first file in the specular. Darken both the RBG channel and the alpha with levels. Or you can flood both with black but you need to put a tiny gray dot somewhere in the corner on the alpha, otherwise it will be seen as blank file

Okay, I fixed it. Thanks for all the help ^^ For future reference: Turns out you have to make the specular blank everytime you want to import a new one so that the mask of the one you're importing is the one being shown in the package. AND if you don't want to put any shine on the specular map, you have to make it so that the mask only consists of #000000 and #FFFFFF.

No, you dont have to make it blank, you just need to control the intensity. But if you meant the file was not being updated, it must be something with the package
edit: when you import, you only select the specular.dds, right? Not specular.dds.mask

No I mean clicking the blank button on TS4S interface. The mask only updated after I made it blank and reimported.

Must be something with s4s or the package then. We usually do not need to do it. But good thing it's resolved
