I got rid of some buttons on the side of a dress, and filled in the gaps with faces. The dress still has indents where the buttons used to be. Currently, it looks like this: imgur.com/tyJrjVUWhat would be the best way to smooth out the dress in those areas?

Hi. In edit mode select the area, to the left of the 3d view there is Shading/uvs tab. choose Faces - Smooth. Did you edit uvs in uv_1 and uv_0?

I selected the faces were uneven and chose smooth, however it doesn't seem like it changed much. Could this be because of the way the lines are laid out on the mesh in those areas? I haven't edited the uvs yet, I guess the look of the mesh should change once I've edited the uvs?

The topology of the edited area should be similar to that of the surrounding area ( disregard the fact that it is triangulated). It would have been a better idea to dissolve those buttons instead of deleting them because you will spend more time editing uvs No, the textures are not displayed right now, so you cannot see the problem with uvs
