Hello all! So I ran a batch fix for the first time, the disable cc for random sims. After realizing my default replacement eyes weren't working, I decided to go into the batch fix folder of the Sims 4 Studio and put the backup files into my mod folder. I figured they were the same, just with the cc enabled for random sims again. So, I overwrote the batch fix back up files over my old files. I had them in folders, so I didn't realize right away that anything was wrong. I then go into my game and notice a ton of cc missing, like a lot. I checked and almost 5gb of CC is missing. Pretty much all my home decor cc is gone. Is there anyway to undo this? I have a Macbook, if that helps. I don't have the time machine enabled either, which now feels really dumb. Thanks for any information, I'm sort of freaking out. I know it seems silly to be upset, but I've been downloading cc since 2014 and I'm sure a lot of it is irreplaceable at this point.

So, do you have TMexi's Better Build/Buy mod installed?

No. As far as mods go I only have mccommand center, the noblu lighting by luumia, and a white cas background.

Are the files actually gone from your hard drive, then? That's not clearly stated, which is why I asked about the mod (a common cause of people thinking their CC has disappeared when there's actually nothing wrong, since they often don't realize that it adds a toggle for whether or not to show CC), although it does look as if it may be implied. (I'm not sure if you mean that your Mods folder is 5GB smaller than it should be, or if there is a folder you still have, which contains things you can't find in-game, that has 5GB of CC in it.)
I can think of something that could have caused that, but it's not S4S. (It's basically impossible for S4S itself to have caused it.) If you chose to copy the entire backup back into your Mods folder, instead of just the file or small handful of files that shouldn't have been disallowed for random, and you also told your computer to overwrite the folders instead of merging them (or if MacOS works very differently than Windows, I guess), then your computer could have overwritten your Mods folder with just the contents of the backup.

I don't know what else could have caused it. Sorry if it's not clear what happened, I will try to explain differently. The way I have my mods folder set up is that I have my mods, like the mccommand and then I have two cc folders. One for home and one for sims. When I did the batch fix, S4S makes a copy of your files how they were previously from before the batch fix, as I understood it. So, when the eyes weren't working I moved the two folders it had made (a home cc folder and a sim cc folder) from the S4S backup folder, to my Sims 4 mod folder. When moving files it gave me the option to either copy the files so that there would be multiple files or rewrite the S4S files over the Sims 4 mod folder files. I overwrote them, hoping to get my game back to normal. I should have done the actual files instead of the folders I guess. But now 5gb of home decor and a few clothes are gone. I was thinking about the problem while writing this out and I feel like maybe S4S only made a copy of the files of the things that they changed, and that because the home decor stuff didn't need to be disabled for random sims, the folder was basically empty, and therefore when I wrote over the folder it effectively erased them. I had accidentally put a few clothing files in there I think, and I think that those files are the ones that are still there. That's all I can think of. I don't know why any clothes would be missing though, but maybe they were already disabled for random so they weren't changed? Does any of this make sense? Thanks for trying to help me. I did find a backup from when I got my new computer a year ago, but a year of cc is still pretty significant, so if you have any other ideas please let me know.

Unix shouldn't overwrite a directory with contents in it while file managers may behave strange. If you are lucky it's in the Trash at the right end of the Dock.
