Hi, so recently I've been looking into how to convert adult cc hair to child/toddler hair. After some time, I've successfully converted the desired cc hair to toddler hair. In the process the original hair (adult version) is not in game anymore, only the toddler version. Even after deleting the file and downloading it again from the creator. I have no idea what to do to revert it back to the adult hair version. I've went into sims 4 studio and changed the category to adult, I've changed the mesh back to the adult, and even when I open the file in "my projects" it shows an adult sim. But when Im in game, it is only available for toddler. Overall, my two questions are 1) How do I revert the file back to the original version (Conversion from toddler to adult) 2) How do I properly convert an adult cc hair to a child/toddler cc hair that will allow all of the ages to have the converted cc hair

Hi. 1). Make sure you changed all tags related to age. If you did, delete the package from the mods folder first instead of overwriting. If it won't work, share the updated file and the link to the original; 2). Check if the package is merged. If it is, unmerge first. Put the unmerged package in the Documents/The sims 4/Mods. Close s4s studio if it was opened, open again, Cas - Clone 3d mesh, filter by Custom, Shift-select all swatches, clone, replace meshes, change tags

Hi, I am basically having issues with converting my adult cc hair to child and toddler cc hair. I want all 3 ages to have the same hairstyle. When I try converting the hair, I do all of the steps but it does not appear in my game. Only the adult version shows up in CAS. Here's what I do - CAS- Create 3D mesh - Custom - choose the package file that I want to convert - Change the categories to child, then save. - Export the mesh - Go into blender and size the hair onto the child, save mesh - Go back into S4S import mesh, then save.
Am I doing something wrong? Because it does not show up in my game. I DO NOT want to overwrite the original file.

I've never converted a hair before (It's on my ever-growing to-do list of things to learn, lol) Not sure if you've done this part, but you need to start with a cloned EA child hair or toddler hair then import a modified mesh and textures as usual. Changing the age category in Sims4Studio will make it so that the resulting blend file is combined with a child or toddler model which, of course, helps with the sizing and placement of the mesh while in Blender, but that's about it. Once you're in Blender you might need to change the joint assignments and/or mess with the weight paint a little, though weight painting just affects how much a mesh part is altered or morphs during animations. You'll want to make sure your cut numbers are the same as the EA cloned mesh you are replacing, of course, and you'll want to be sure your sorting layers are correct so that the game knows which parts of the hair to render and when to render them. Again, I've never converted a hair before, and I don't know if this will help, but I've had Sims 3 child and toddler hairs that were dependant on the adult hair--the child and toddler hairs would not show up if the adult hair wasn't in the game. I'm wondering if you are copying the adult package file and importing the tweaked meshes into the copied files. The game will not recognize each package file as an individual, separate file, in that case. One of the reasons why cloning an EA item is necessary is that the new file will have a new identifying number--a new instance number--that makes it unique. Does that make sense? If you've got three files with the same instance number the game will only recognize one and ignore the others. Edit: Is the hair showing up in Sims4Studio? When in the game, are the child and/or the toddler hairs showing up in your catalog? If so, when happens when you apply the hair? What happens when you add a hat? You can skim through this tutorial to familiarize yourself will all aspects of Sims 4 hair. In the meantime, I'll see what I can dig up via a Google search. sims4studio.com/thread/134/mini-tutorial-sims-hair-components

Also, be sure to post a link to your blend and maybe take a screenshot of your issue. That way, I or someone else can double-check everything.

There's no need to create a new thread for the same issue. There's also no need to create a new package. You're doing everything right, the cause must be that you did not enable all age and gender related tags. Whenever something does not work, clone a maxis item and study it. So clone any hair for children and pay attention to what tags it has enabled and disabled. I'm not sure what exactly these fields are called in English but these are the ones that can lead to the item being hidden in CAS I think you uploaded the file to the wrong place or shared it the wrong way. Google disk links usually look different, it won't let me download

Yes, the hair shows up perfectly in Sims 4 studio on the child and toddler sim after exporting the mesh. However, it does not show up in my CAS catalog at all. Fwecka (Lolabellesims)

So the mesh itself was in the game and it was a problem with the texture? God, please always share files and images of the problem. Just go to Tools (next to File) - Modding - Glass shader

No, at first it was not appearing in the game AT ALL. I somehow figured it out this morning on how to actually make it show up in CAS. But thanks, I will try this. mauvemorn
