So this mod is actually two new custom careers: Espionage and Court Espionage. At this time it requires llazyneiph's royalty mod which can be found here:
www.patreon.com/llazyneiph for the career requirements. It also requires Get Famous and Get Together for a few interactions. You can download it without those, but I'm not sure how it will work. Anyway, onto the fun stuff. It is a package and a script file, so please remember to
put them in the same folder or subfolder in your mods folder.
There are two careers that are available for teens to Elders.
Espionage is for sims who are peasants and Court Espionage is for sims who are nobles and royalty (that aren't the monarch cause it would make no sense to plot against yourself when you could just abdicate the throne). Each career has seven levels that are fraught with twists and turns that you can play with by using the custom work tones. Note: These are custom to the career and do not affect other careers in the game.
Espionage Career
(Only available to non-nobles)
Eavesdropper (Level 1): The pay is horrible, but it's a step in the right direction. Keep your ears open and your mouth shut to get the most out of this level in what will hopefully be a long career in espionage.
Mon-Thurs $5/HR
Well-Informed Informant (Level 2): The local spy who recruited you has been impressed with your ability to report on the comings and goings of the local population and have promoted you to a well-informed informant. This still isn't an easy job, but the hours are better. That has to be worth something, right?
Mon-Fri $7/HR
Local Scout (Level 3): Remember how you used to be nothing more than a little eavesdropper? Well your job now is to find more of those people to help you build up your own spy network. After all, you can never have too many eyes and ears when you're trying to overthrow the kingdom.
Mon-Fri $10/HR
Local Spy (Level 4): You have a small army of spies under you now who are more than willing to do your bidding. Whether that's listening for juicy gossip at the local drinking hall or eavesdropping on their noble employers, they are loyal to you and the steady stream of money you throw their way in exchange for information that's useful in bringing the monarchy down.
Mon-Fri $12/HR
Kingdom Spy (Level 5): Your focus has spread from the local area to the entire kingdom as you spend your days travelling from village to village to meet up with other spies. Together, you sift through the local gossip to find the facts that could undermine the kingdom once and for all.
Mon, Thurs-Sun $15/HR
Professional Sabatoger (Level 6): No longer a mere spy, you're now a professional sabatoger. This means that when something goes wrong in the kingdom, you're usually the brains behind it. Exploding ships at the dock? Your idea. All the wheat in the granary going up in flames right after the first frost sets in? Also your doing.
Mon,Tues, Fri, Sat, Sun $20/HR
Spymaster (Level 7): The days are long and grueling, but you have finally made it to the post of spymaster. The enemy kingdom is more than thrilled to have you at their disposal...erm, service, and pay you handsomely for the web of lies you constantly craft in their favour.
Fri-Sun $30/HR
Court Espionage
(Only available to nobles)
No One (Level 1):You've arrived at the royal court with nothing but your title to your name. For most this would be disheartening, but this is a great advantage for you. Blend in with the scenery and keep your senses on full alert for any sign of cracks in the perfect facade of the royal court.
Mon-Fri $7/HR
General of Eavesdroppers (Level 2): You're still a no one to most other courtiers, however you are definitely a someone to the servants who are tasked with serving you thanks to your family name. Using your little influence you're determined to amass a small army of eavesdroppers that will report to you every move of the monarch and their inner circle. That will definitely make you more valuable to the monarch of a Kingdom Far Away.
Mon-Fri $10/HR
Disloyal Courtier (Level 3): You've risen from being a no one to truly being a someone at the royal court. The monarch has invited you to be one of the many personal attendants of their chambers. With close access to the monarch on a daily basis you are able to gain more insight into their daily life which you happily report to the monarch at a kingdom far away in exchange for even more money. Of course your fellow courtiers make it even easier with their loose tongues.
Mon-Fri $15/HR
Notable Courtier (Level 4): Servants aren't the only ones taking notice of you now. Other courtiers who would'nt have given you a second glance are also noticing you thanks to your great courtly manners. However, remember to treat everyone as an enemy and few as friends. After all, there's no telling who you can trust in the royal court.
Mon-Fri $20/HR
Royal Confidant (Level 5): It's official. You are now a part of the monarch's innermost circle. You're silver tongue makes them open up to you in ways that will be detrimental to the entire kingdom at best. You've become one of the monarch's most trusted friends while discreetly using their dirtiest secrets and greatest dreams to plant daggers in their back and plot against the kingdom so that it crumbles before their very own eyes. If only they knew the truth about you.
Mon-Fri $40/HR
Disloyal Councillor (Level 6): If people knew the truth about you then they would have said the monarch lost their mind appointing you to their Royal Council. With unlimited access to records about the kingdom and the royal family, your ability to bring the kingdom crashing down is even greater than ever. However, don't let your power go to your head since even the greatest spy can easily fall from grace if they are outed as a traitor.
Mon-Fri $50/HR
Foreign Spymaster (Level 7): With your duties of councillor giving you more plausible excuses to visit neighboring kingdoms, including the one you really work for, the enemy monarch has decided to appoint you to the title of Foreign Spymaster. It's the highest title a spy can have, and you've certainly earned it. Let's just hope you can keep it.
Thurs- Sun $78/HR
Traits
Spy: Was it money or moral obligation that made you turn on your own kingdom? Either way, you're getting paid to be the best kept secret in the entire kingdom right now.
Can be gained through gameplay or upon joining the espionage or court espionage career.
Known Traitor: It's a known fact that you are a traitor to the monarchy, whether you wanted to keep it a secret or not.
Can be gained only through gameplay using the career options when your sim goes to work, or other socials.
Depending on what level and career you're in, you will get different moodlets that can affect your sim on a day-to-day basis, as well as professionally.
There are also a few custom interactions that you can unlock as you play. They have ripple affects throughout your sims life and in their chosen career. They include:
Ask Opinion on Monarchy: Grants a random moodlet to non-spies that can lead them to second guessing their loyalty to the monarch. If it reaches a certain point then they unlock the next interaction. Sims who are already spies or known traitors, get a separate moodlet.
Ask to become spy: Non-spies with the Not fit to rule moodlet currently active, can ask another sim that is already a spy, to become a spy themselves if they have a decent amount of friendship with them. If they are successful then they get the spy trait.
Ask to join spy network: Sims who are spies or known traitors can ask non-spies with a decent friendship, to join their spy network. If they are successful then the spy that has been asked will get the spy trait. Success with this interaction is necessary to complete the Spymaster Aspiration as well.
Discuss Eavesdropper reports: Sims who are spies and known traitors can discuss eavesdropper reports among themselves. This results in random moodlets.
Plead innocence: Sims with the Known Traitor trait can plead their innocence with other sims. If they are successful then they lose their known traitor trait and regain the spy trait. Success with this interaction is necessary to complete the Spymaster Aspiration.
Impress with espionage tales: A romantic social available to spies.
Tell story about "almost" becoming a spy: A friendly social between spies and non-spies that can be used to get rid of the spy trait in sims.
This is a reaction a sim had from discussing eavesdropper reports.
There is also a spymaster aspiration you can do that unlocks a special legendary spymaster award that is really handy if you don't like being known as a known traitor...
Completion of the spymaster aspiration unlocks the special Legendary Spymaster trait. Sims with this trait also unlock a special interaction called Refute traitor claims. Use of this interaction ALWAYS gets rid of the known traitor trait and grants sims a random amount of simoleons as well.
There are a few other hidden easter eggs like the risk of starting a war, but I'll leave those for you to find. Please let me know if you have any issues, and enjoy!
