What are your graphic settings in game? With the CAS items you'll probably have to use HQ mod, but I'm confused by how blurry the walls are. Maybe it's just the pattern but I've never seen walls be that blurry unless the texture itself is.

Hi. The default texture size for the diffuse is pretty small and, if it’s CAS items, only a small portion of that texture can be used at all. So do not expect some amazing quality from ts4. Simply making the texture image bigger won’t do anything unless you will also edit the graphics settings (like, not simply change the graphics settings, but edit the graphics file that dictates what resolution is used in-game). This is called HQ mod and you can find more info on that matter by googling. Just make sure to read everything to know what you’re sighing up for.
Another cause of loss in quality can be the file format you use. The game uses .dds, which is a compressed file format. Every time you export, import or save the .dds file, it compresses, and the quality becomes worse. .png, on the other hand, is an uncompressed file format. You can save it over and over and it should stay the same. However, when you will import it in s4s, the software will convert it to .dds (because that is what the game uses). So, it is a better idea to export, save and import files in .png, because they will undergo less compression. Do not use .png for a shadow map, can cause problems.

Thank you both of you for the answers. For the sweater I posted (first image) I used a PNG with 2048x4096 which is double the normal size. The quality did not improve much even in this double size, no matter how big PNG I use it will look blurry. I use uncompressed PNG for my CAS recolors and walls too. My abstract textures are crystal crisp, I create them myself, but when I import them to the game they look blurry because as you said mauvemorn, the game compressing it. I checked the non-custom walls that were made by EA, and they look blurry too like this: I just tried making a wall with double size PNG minutes ago and it still looked completely trash: So is this normal? Is this how they should look like? My graphic settings (res is 1920x1200): Thanks for the tip on HQ mod, looked it up, but if my already downloaded CC will be unusable then it's not something I would use. So I really want to know if the problem is on my side or is this how the game actually supposed to look like? Is every default item and CC blurry for everyone else too?

Fixed the wallpaper, I unticked the box that says "auto resize textures". First panel is still the auto-resized, the rest is without it. The difference is huge! Still washed up, but not as bad as before. My main focus is clothing though.

Without HQ all CAS items will be that blurry unfortunately. Like mauvemorn said, only a small area of a 1024*2048 image is used to texture a shirt for example. Without HQ using a bigger resolution won't change anything.

Thank you, I appreciate the replies. So it's normal to have textures this blurry? Is this how it looks like in everyone's game?

Yep, pretty much. For example with my super old cc, here's a tattoo I made before I discovered hq mod: and here's one right after I found hq: There is a converter on modthesims that makes cas cc hq, if later down the line you wanted to start using it

Can you share the texture that you save from photoshop, the one that you import in Studio. And package file as well. Textures should not be that pixelated unless this it what it looks like when it is saved. They will look somewhat blurred in the game but they do not suppose to look super pixelated

When you have a wall swatch open in Sims 4 Studio, under the textures tab, there is a check box below the import/export buttons which says "autoresize textures."
