I've been asking this everywhere but I haven't gotten an answer lol. I have a couple custom traits in my game that are enabled for life stages that are inappropriate for their age so I want to restrict the life stages for these traits to teen+. I've gotten to the place where I can see the tuning so I see the lines of code that enable the Life stages the traits are available for but I must be doing something wrong. Whenever I delete the line of code the trait stops showing in CAS altogether. I have no programming experience so I'm completely lost.

We'd need to see the code you are trying to edit.

That looks correct but you also have to remove the data from the Sim Data resource as well and I think those are formatted differently. I don't have much modding experience for things like traits but generally speaking if the Tuning and the Sim Data don't match then it won't work.

Ok, so, I deleted the data but I'm still having the issue of the trait not showing in cas. If I take out the original file I used, the trait stops showing up, if I keep my altered and the original file in, it still allows children and toddlers. This may sound dumb but am I saving it wrong?

Why are you keeping the original in the game as well? You can only have one at a time since the game will see them as the same package and only load one of them. Leave just your edited package in the game and test what happens.
