Hello! I wanted to recolor some ceiling decoration, using Photoshop and S4S, but even if my objects look good on S4S, once in game, they don't look good. The objects I'm recoloring are from Severinka's Arched Ceiling set. I also tried Adonispluto's Discretion Ceiling Designer objects, with same bad results. The original objects have some invisible areas when seen from above, which is what I want for ceiling decoration, my recolors keep that effect in game, but their texture looks distorted, and in a different shade. I saved my recolor textures as png, whith same pixel height and width as the original object's texture. Apparently their file size always change. I don't know if I need to save my textures as DDS or Dxt, it's something I've never done. Any help would be very appreciated!

Hello, without seeing the object, it is difficult to diagnose and offer you solutions. Can you upload the file so that we can see what the problem is? Btw. Dxt is DDS. You save .dds in Dxt options, where Dxt 1 is used for example for textures with 100% opacity and Dxt 5 is used for textures where you want to show something invisible or translucent and for the normal and specular maps. This is defined when saving as a .dds file.

Hello, Annigo, I saved a copy of the mod I made in my Onedrive Shared files folder, and post it here (I don't know any other way to do it). I hope it helps! Thank you very much. Onedrive SeverinkaArchedCeilingRecolor

Hi Tarucco, I found the problem and fixed it right away. I think the error occurs since the Cats&Dogs patch. The shadow model is faulty, the normals (the sides on which the texture is displayed) seem to be swapped. So that the invisible side shows to the outside. I have not tried to turn them around now. With Blender I don't even know how that works because I don't work with that program. However, I am able to import and export objects. And that's what I did, I imported the actual model and replaced it with the shadow model and lo and behold, it works. i assume that this is a set with multiple objects that all have the same problem, right? Actually it would be Severinka's job to fix it. Now I don't know what you want to do. Do you want to write to her and describe the problem, do you want to try it yourself, or do you want me to do it for you?
If you want to try it yourself, here is a tutorial for it:
And here is your fixed file: SFS

Wow! Looks amazing! Yes, it is a set of several pieces. I would like to recolor a couple of them, and also another ceiling decor made by AdonisPluto (from Modthesims), the mod is called "Discretion Ceiling Designer Slabs". I think these are the best items one could use to decorate ceilings, together with some other mods like the amazing "Gothic Arched Pillar Set For TS4" by Regalsims. I use free camera a lot, and I hate to death those silly white ceilings that TS4 provide us, they don't match any of my buildings. I'm gonna give a try to the tutorial, because I'd like to add a nice color palette to these objects. If I succeed, I'll write to the creators. Thank you very, very much!

Apparently I cannot follow the tutorial because I have an old version of Blender (I use Windows 7) and S4S CAS Tools appear empty, so I cannot edit the blender file. I'd be so thankful if you (or someone else) could fix the mods I atach here. They are: Severinka-Archedceiling6x2 v04Recolor.package DiscretionCeilingDesignerBigRecolor.package Thank you very much in advance! Tatucco onedrive S4S Mods

So, the 6x2 arch is fixed. SFS And on the other file I didn't change anything and this is how it looks in the game. Actually quite normal. If you keep coming across files in the game that are not displayed correctly, feel free to write to the creators and ask them to fix the files. Not every user can do that by himself.

Thank you, Annigo, you are an angel! Regarding the other mod (DiscretionCeilingDesignerBigRecolor.package) I forgot to say that I only renamed it, in the copy I shared here I did't add any other color yet, but this week I tried to add more color swatches, following the tutorials from this site, and when tested in game, it had the same problem as the Severinka arches. What I'm doing so far, in order to add some fancy colors to them in game, is to put some colored neon lights on top of them, so they are tinged by the colored lights, but that means having more stuff in the lots you build...

I don't know if I understand you correctly now, since my mother tongue is not English but German and my school English is already a bit rusty. D Do you want to add neon lights directly in the object?

My mother language is not english neither. I'm Spanish :D What I mean is that when I play The Sims4, and I'm in Build Mode, and want, let's say, match the color of the ceiling with the one in the walls or floor, I use AdonisPluto's Discretion Ceiling Slabs, in color white, as in the last picture you posted here, put them all over one room's ceiling, and then I pick some colored ceiling neon lights and place them side by side with the mentioned ceiling slabs, all while playing. Since the neon lights are smaller than the ceiling slabs, when you are in Free Camera Mode, you cannot see the neon lights, but all the ceiling slabs get tinged by the colored light. Since I haven't succeeded in recoloring those ceiling slabs yet, that is the solution I've found, so far... I guess I want colored ceilings so badly... (rofl)

Oh really? Is the light shining through? Then you can try coloring the lights. There is then certainly also beautiful effects. 🤔 But now that you say that, it occurs to me that I often place neon lights behind paintings, shrink them down so you can't see them. The paintings are illuminated that way too, it looks great.

Hello! I was able to recolor 2 items from Severinka's Arched Ceiling Set (4x1 and 6x2 pieces). I only could change the texture in the existing swatches, since adding more swatches gives shadow problems. Since Severinka allows recoloring, I post it here, together with one picture of the results in the 6x2 piece. Severinka Arched Ceiling 4x1 & 6x2
