Hi Syboulette, thank you for making exactly the tutorial I needed I followed a lot of tutorials to fully understand how to make custom content and almost all of them deal with specular and bump maps by simply avoiding them and replacing them with blank maps. It's a lot of information to unpack because this is a very concise tutorial and not as easy as bump maps, but thank you so so much! I will come back to it everytime I need to create specular maps until I fully understand the entire process and its specificities.

Hello, Syboulette Im new to the Sims 4 Studio forum and thought it would be best to reach you from one of your latest posts. I feel as though your the most experienced and qualified CC creator to reach out for assistance. Ive been working on my own CC Maxis Match set, and have been following your amazing informative videos such as this one. Ive run into an issue with my pieces as I think it may be related to the specular or normal maps. When I bring my items into the game, the items have a sheen or shine to them. Now I used Little Dicas generator on blender to get specific colors for the alpha channels, Ive tried everything to get a simple matte texture with no reflection or shine, but nothing seems to work. Ive made sure to use a .dds file with mipmaps , DXT5, and Alpha all checked. The sizes are all matched at 1024x1024. Another thing happens when I move my items holding down the option /alt key, the reflective lighting on the objects adjusts as I move the item. Like a flicker. I removed the occluder lighting also but nothing. One question if I use a regular blank bump map (not created or custom) but I create a specular map, could that be the issue? Can my specular map work with a blank bump map? Here are sample images for a better idea. This image shows the reflection and shine on the left (My objects ) and what I want on the right by the amazing creator Harrie. This image shows the object with a reflection. While this image shows the object with no reflection. This flickering happens as I move the objects with option clicking. Don't understand why. If you have time It would be much appreciated. Thank you and have a nice day.

A blank specular map is a RGBA with black alpha layer, while a blank normal map will have a 128 grey value on all channels (alpha included). Under the description of my youtube video you can find a link with blank maps you can use If you have further question, do not hesitate to join my discord channel and send your files over so we can take a look discord.gg/F7hB7mBBHave a nice day/evening !
