In eco living there is a solar panel that snaps to the roof pitch. Does anyone know what resource in that object controls that? Cloning it works just fine to create new roof decor but I end up with the solar panel tuning that I don't know how to get rid of. I really like the placing mechanics of that solar panel and have a ton of ideas but the tuning is getting in the way.

When I looked at the regular roof deco objects, they seem to lack a Tuning and TuningID number (as described in this tutorial). You could try clicking on each Object Definition in the Warehouse and deleting everything in those two fields. You will also want to click on Object Catalog and change the ObjectTooltipTags and Tags fields to match your new object. You could open another S4S window and look at a general roof deco object to see what changes to make.

I had done everything else you mentioned except those. Although I would still like to figure out which settings makes it snap flat to the roofs surface (it doesn't have the same placement mechanics that chimneys and other roof decor does. I cloned 4 different things and none of it worked the same way) so I can make things easier but I will take what I can get right now lol Thank you so much!

You're welcome! Sorry, I don't know exactly what makes the placement special. I tried importing the solar panel's footprint into another object but it didn't seem to work as expected.

I tried that as well before asking. I tried a few of it's settings on other items too with no luck. The only reason I am interested in that particular part is to make things BGC for those without EL. But if I can't it's fine. Pack requirements happen sometimes. Thanks again!

I've tested the solar panel, and I can say with great confidence that only this parameter affects the way of its placement. It's 00000000 for other items, 00000080 — for panels. But no matter how I try to change it, nothing happens. When I switch to another tab, the parameter goes back to default. All in all, this is a pretty useless post, but I hope it pushes someone towards a solution. UPD
Lol, I've got it.

Lol, I've got it. I had tried changing that value as well and got the same results. But it looks like you found the solution? I looked all over the warehouse settings but couldn't find anything that says UPD which is odd because I do remember seeing that setting at some point. I feel like such a idiot though because I see a lot of U1 U2 ect but no UPD setting on my file.

qolygonal , I noticed the solar panel has two extra slots (_ctnm_ and _deco_) added. Do you know their purpose?

Oh no, when I wrote UPD I meant update. The PlacementFlagsHigh section should have a roof attachment checkbox, I suppose. But while it's not there, you can use another program to set the value to 00000080, or clone this package: BGRoofAttachment.packagePut it in \Documents\Sims 4 Studio\Mods. Open Studio, filter by custom content or type BGRoof.

I half want to laugh half want to cry at that one lol I did a test run in another program and got it working! THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Which "other program" would you recommend to set the value?

phaeton99, TSRW or S4PE. TSRWEdit (on the top bar) > Project Contents > OBJD > Right click > Edit > Generic DBPFEntry Editors. S4PECOBJ > Grid (on the bottom bar).

I had made a roof solar panel and wind turbine that disappear in live mode, and while they function as intended, I cannot get them to snap to the roof like you have here. I've tried changing the PlacementFlagsHigh flag to 00000080, as suggested, but that didn't seem to work? It's not so much an issue when I first place the object, but if I later go to move it then it won't allow me (off the top of my head, the issue is related to the slope).

This method is now obsolete since S4S now includes the correct tuning for roof slopes built into it. Go to object catalog for each swatch and make sure that "conform to slope" is checked. Also make sure "roof" is also checked. It works perfect and I have been able to stick many things to my roofs.
