Hello! I apologise in advance because I think that this is a stupid question, but nobody I asked could tell me why the problems I have are happening. I'd also like to say that the only prior experience I have with CC is converting TS4 CC hair to TS3, so I'm a real beginner.
Anyway, I am not trying to create a body preset from scratch, I just wanted to modify (for personal use) a piece of CC, which is a body preset (a bunch of them, actually), and at this point I don't expect to make it work but I really want to know why it's doing what it's doing. So, I have several body presets for female sims with the feminine frame and I wanted to try to enable them for any feminine-framed sims, ie even male sims with the feminine frame (I realise how weird it sounds, but I promise it wasn't for any weird reason, I just had something very convoluted and story-related in mind). Because, in all honesty, I am not very knowledgable on the inner workings of TS4, I assumed that what the game does when you give a male sim the feminine frame or a female sim the masculine frame is that it just swaps the body and seemingly also face for the default ones of the opposite sex, and therefore I further assumed that the presets should have no problems since I am not trying to force them on a frame they aren't made for, right? Some of them worked just fine but all presets by one specific creator didn't, which didn't really pique my curiosity, but what made me hellbent on finding out why some don't work was when I did this with presets in a merged package and 4 of them worked while 1 completely glitched out the sims. Basically what the ones that don't work do is that they just randomly distort the sims' morph in all directions. Not like in a patterned way, they basically turn them into a mass of spikes.
But yeah, again, sorry for this question, I'd be really glad if someone could tell me why exactly this is happening with some of the presets but not others and if there is any way I could fix that (I am not really expecting to be able to anymore, as I said, but I figured I'd still ask).
