Hi there! I'm new here but I have been modding TS4 for about six months now. I also have significant experience in Blender, for over ten years now.
I've just made a lovely diving board, using the jump platform as a template. But as you can probably imagine the sims still climb an invisible ladder and jump from the wrong position. I want to change the entrance animation, so that they just walk across the board. But I can't seem to find any tutorials on how to do this! Can anyone offer any pointers?

Hi. If I was undertaking your project, I'd first extract all the tunings/asm that are associated with diving and study them. What I noticed with a quick glance in those files is that regardless of whether sims want to do a swan dive or backflip, they'd all carry out a common initiating animation first, which is id:128676 'jumpStand_Actions_Jump'. This is likely the 'climb invisible staircase' animation that you want to change. After you have verified it, find its associated interaction tuning (128702), clone it and rehash the id to make a new interaction. You'll then have to do the same for the animation tuning for it to refer to, then add lines in the asm file so that it can refer to your custom animation. Finally, you'll have to add lines in your custom diving board's object tuning for it to recognise and play out your custom interaction. These are the steps to achieve what you want. I hope I am not confusing you. If you're not sure about object tunings, interactions etc, Aurora Kreativ's tutorial has a lot of great information.

Thank you so much mercuryfoam that was really helpful. There are a LOT of different animations and states to consider here so I've decided to change it up and make it based on the pool ladder instead. This way a Sim will get on the diving board and jump in. It's a lot simpler, in my mind at least, because there's not multiple different jump types, different personality types and fitness levels etc affecting it. No state machines to worry about etc. I only need to change one animation now. Trouble is, I can't find the animations for the ladder! That tutorial was really helpful because I've found the object, interaction and snippet tuning and added and linked them all to my object, but I cannot see any reference to any existing animation. Do you (or anyone) have any ideas??

Ok so I found the ladder animations but I can't see how the ladder tuning links to the ladder animations?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! I'm really surprised that I can't find any tutorials for this sort of thing - changing sim animations on an object.
