hi! so i'm trying to make my first clayified hair because i prefer maxis match but can't find the hairstyle i want in any texture but alpha.
i've been following a tutorial, saved the diffusion layer in dds format, opened it in photoshop 2020.
i have the nvidia plugin installed. when i open it up, however, unlike the tutorial i'm following, everything shows up in a red/pink color when i turn on the alpha channel.
then, after i add the clay texture, when i go to save, photoshop gives me an error, so i can't save in dds. i've looked up ways to fix this but i can't seem to figure out what the problem is.
so instead i tried saving the dds as png, since the tutorial said i could...
except when i test it out in sims4studio, while the hair looks absolutely exactly like i want it to, the entire sim's body is white.
when i open it up in the game, the same problem occurs. hair looks great. no skin texture.
i've seen some tutorials saying i need to delete the background to make it transparent, but when i try to delete it, nothing happens. if i re-open the png in photoshop, i can delete it, but then it creates a wall of the clay texture, which then turns the sim into a horrifying hair texture golem rather than the white skin.
i'm so lost! i can provide screenshots if needed, but i've closed everything out of frustration for now and will probably start the process over if i want to show what's going on.

Hi. Export the texture in png, edit it, then save as png. No need to work with dds for the diffuse textures
The alpha layer looks pink because you need to click on it, not just make it visible The sim turns white because the texture is saved without the alpha channel. To preserve the alpha channel, you need to save the image as dds, with interpolated alpha. If your photoshop cannot save dds on its own, then you need a plugin. Anyway, all of it is unnecessary, just use png
