Single tile in the centre of two-doors/windows

When making a single door or window to sit in the centre of 2 tiles do I need to clone a 2 tile base object or can I tick some boxes or change a number to allow my original object to be placed the way I want it. Ideally my first door would be the master and the other the slave and I need them to have the same wallmask.
