So there's this skirt which i like so i decided to try to make it an accessory, but when i seemingly accomplished it the cc shows up in game with that infamous red and black error pattern. I feel like this is a simple mistake and i'm sorry for asking but i just really don't know what to do here :( also i would really appreciate tips on how to make clothing items such as tops accessories, ass all that i am doing is copying and pasting the mesh in blender and i feel like that's not at all the right way to do it. Thanks in advance ) Original package as lower body: drive.google.com/file/d/16eduBTKH11SBEz8KA5EcSFkFzL0F_FSF/view?usp=sharingAccessory package attempt by me: drive.google.com/file/d/1rR2rdw7IEiC3J_weasrE8IseG8VGptGm/view?usp=sharing

I think that it's what you cloned. It looks like you cloned the other creator's skirt for your final package? Try cloning a skirt, instead. You'll need one that has skirt bones since the mesh currently has skirt bones so look for a short, circle skirt. There's a mini pleated skirt that I think will work. Clone that, import your mesh, the legs will disappear but don't worry about that, change the category, save, close Studio then reopen it and the legs will be back. Then import your textures and test in-game. If everything looks good you can import the LODs and the rest of your textures. Just a heads up. The mesh has been UV-mapped to the lower right corner of the CAS map. Other creators do the same so you may encounter conflicts with some custom content.

The red and black error pattern appears when ts4 cannot locate the referenced files. Basically, when you clone custom content, you need to copy-paste it into s4s\mods\, not move from ts4\mods folder completely. It should be in both places. Alternatively, you can just embed ( Tools - Modding - embed externally referenced resources) the files from the original package in your copy to make it stanalone. For this, the original must be in s4s\mods\ folder ( it can be in ts4\mods as well, just make sure it's in s4s\mods).
Also, short skirts are not affected by skirt bones and yours does not need them either. But you're making this for personal use, so if there are no problems in your game, then there is no need to fix it.

Ok I used a base game glove instead to import the mesh and this time there is no error pattern, so I guess as long as the skin bones are not necessary as you say there aren't gonna be any issues. Thank you for your help!

I don't know if using a glove as a base is a good idea. Mauvemorn would know more but it seems to me that, since your skirt contains weights, your final package would need the same weights.

As I said, if you are making something for personal use and get no problems in ts4, then you can do whatever you want. If you intend on sharing it with other people, then you must make sure there will be no problems for them, too.
Your new package was referencing empty specular and shadow maps from the item you cloned. You could just remove or embed them
