I'm trying to create a transparent mesh. I need the S4Studios CAS tools to create a cut in the mesh, but I don't know to enable it in Blender.

Hi. In s4s settings, change blender path to the location where 2.79 is installed. Close blender if it was opened. Open it again and check if there is S4Studio cas tools. If not, then go to File - User preferences, click on Install from file button, navigate to _:\______\Sims4Studio\Blender\Scripts\, and choose io_sims.py, click on Install from file, close and open Blender and s4s again. If s4studio cas tools will still not appear, download 2.76

When I try to install the add-on from file, the add-on is available, but Blender gives me an error when I try to enable it. (ImportError: No module named 's4studio'). I also tried it with 2.76 and got the same result. Also, when changing the blender path in S4S, do I choose blender (icon) to 'open'. (C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender > then choosing the blender icon)

Yes, the .exe file where blender is installed. If changing the path and restarting blender does not work, move blender and s4s away from your c drive

Ok I moved it to my d (recovery) drive and it still gives me the error when I try to enable the add-on (ImportError: No module named 's4studio'), it also says to upgrade to 2.8x.

The 2.8+ versions won’t work with s4s. S4S is a portable software from small developers that has to make changes in its own files that are in \documents\ , access game files and put a plugin in blender folder. Your system perceives this activity as a threat and something must be preventing blender from accepting the plugin.
Try adding s4s to exceptions in your antivirus(not disabling it but adding to exceptions) and running it as admin. Change blender path to 2.76 location. Restart blender. Check if s4studio cas tool has appeared.

I added the sims4studios file to exclusions of the virus protection system and it still didn't pop up.

Edit: Wait. Recovery drive? Isn't that just a partition used in case you need to set your computer back to factory settings? How many physical hard drives do you have installed in your computer? If you have just one, then it's your C drive and you have to install everything onto your C drive. If I understand correctly, you don't have to install your game into Program Files (x86). Some people, I think, have installed their game onto their desktop. Unless I'm mistaken, if that's the case, you'd need to install Origin to your desktop and then install all of your Origin games into that. I'm sure you've done some of this, and some of this you may not need to do at all, but here's a checklist: 1. Add an exclusion for Studio and (possibly) Blender in your antivirus. Read more here.2. Make sure whatever drive you have Blender and/or Studio installed on allows full control. - Right-click on your D drive.
- Choose properties.
- In the new window, click the security tab.
- Click the edit button.
- In the permissions box, click "Allow" next to "Full Control."
- Click apply.
- Click OK.
You can repeat these steps for every user. And you can do this for your C drive, as well. Read more here. 3. Make sure your file path settings are correct. Mine are for my C drive. I have full administrative control over my C drive so I have no problems. Note that your Blender path must end with Blender.exe. Also, note that many times there should be a "\" at the end of your S4Studio path. 4. In Blender, open File > User Preferences, in the addons section type "studio" in the search box. Put a checkmark next to "Import-Export: Sims 4 Studio Blender Tools." Click "Save User Settings." Close Blender then re-open it to see if the addon was installed. 5. Studio requires Net Framework so check to see that you have it installed. 6. Studio doesn't support Blender 2.8 and above. It supports 2.70 to 2.79. 7. Repair your game. 8. Try removing the Sims4Studio folder in the Documents folder then restarting Studio.

I have a laptop and it only has the 'c' drive, a 'd' recovery drive, and a 'e' dvd drive.

Sounds you have just one physical hard drive. A recovery drive is just a partition on your C drive. It's literally just a section of memory in your C drive that's been set aside and that contains the files your computer needs if you ever want to restore the computer to factory settings. Don't install anything to the recovery drive. Install your game and Blender to your C drive. If you don't have administrative control over your computer, and by that I mean you're a secondary user, you'll have to assign full control to your user profile. Right-click on your C drive—not the recovery drive. It's not an actual drive. Choose properties. In the new window, click the security tab. Click the edit button. In the permissions box, click "Allow" next to "Full Control." Click apply. Click OK. Follow what's here, as well.

Ok I got it, I didn't give full control to my user account. But now that I have you, do you guys know how to make a mesh transparent in the game. I'm following a tutorial but it's not working.

Please create a new thread, explain what part does not work out, and share the blend and package file please

Just wanted to point out its probably not a good idea to be advising people to give full control to the C drive. Not very smart as far as security goes. Maybe put disclaimers about said risks before recommending it to people. Someone may not know better and do it. If youve done it and wasnt aware of risks that come from it then now you know. Giving full control to C drive puts your security at risk.
