How do I copy and paste stuff in blender files, for exmaple a bowtie on one shirt (same gender/age if it gets more complicated with different gender/age) to another shirt, or the bowtie to become an accessory?

The easiest way I can think of is to separate the bowtie from the shirt, save the bowtie as a .blend, and then append it to the mesh you want to add it to. If you want to make it an accessory instead you can clone an accessory and append the bowtie mesh into that .blend and then replace the original accessory with your bowtie.
