Whenever I try to Import/Export or browse files sims 4 studio crashes, it worked fine a few days ago I'm unsure how to fix it because there's no error message or one in the logs either

S4s path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Sims 4 Studio
sims 4 path: not set yet because I tried reinstalling s4s and it won't let me browse without crashing
Sims 4 documents: C:\Users\User\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4
Blender path: C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender\blender.exe

If you have other drives ( not external, just D, E, etc ), move s4s folder away from C:\Program Files (x86) to another drive. If not, try running it s4s as admin. If won't work again, try adding it to exceptions in your antivirus ( not disable it, add to exceptions). If won't work, you'll have to give this folder permission to do everything as explained in the first and last reply hereBasically, windows has become more overzealous about system protection, so every software installed on the c drive has even less permission to do anything now

Is there a log file (a .txt file in the logs folder. Share the latest one) in Studio's folder in the Documents folder? If so, what does it say? Specifically, what does it say near the bottom of the text file? Possible solutions: *take ownership (permissions) of Studio's install folder and its Documents folder. *make an antivirus exception for Studio's install folder and its Documents folder. *make sure your file paths are correct--Studio needs to read your game's package files. *repair/reinstall your game--Studio needs to read your game's package files. *reinstall Studio as it may be corrupt (unlikely). *Make sure you have the latest version of Net Framework. *Update your computer. That's all I can think of. I do know of one person who was having trouble and it was her PC. She ran CHKDSK and found disk errors and that was the the cause of all her trouble.

I don't know what to tell you guys, I tried everything listed and nothing worked I'm so confused, the studio reads the game package files just fine but when I click next to save a package it crashes, or when I open anything that includes file explorer, this is only a sims 4 studio issue other apps work fine.

The problem is caused by the fact that s4s cannot access the game and other files, probably can’t change its log file as well. The reason is that everything is installed on the same drive as the system. The system sees this action of touching other files installed on the c drive as a threat, so it shuts everything down. We have been getting a lot of people with related issues in the past few weeks because of windows updates. There are no problems with other software because they don’t rely on the files from a game to function. Anyway, the instructions in the link I gave to the Microsoft forum worked for another person. You can try repeating the steps from both posts to see if you missed anything. This must be done to the installation s4s folder, but you can try doing it to the one in the documents as well. You can also add to exceptions the installation folder, the .exe file, s4s folder in documents. You can try to give permission to the whole c drive to see if it will resolve the issue, but this is not a good idea in general. If your antivirus will not detect the threat in time, the virus can damage your whole system. And lastly, you can try splitting your c-drive into two, but I don’t know how easy or safe it is (there are videos on YouTube)
