Hello simmers, and happy new year! As you can see in the image, I'm trying to get those red stars glow. To do that, I made a flat shape with an alpha texture (the one you see in black in the image). The problem is, the only way I can get that part glow is vertex paint starting from a lamp, and most of the lamps I tried doesn't have alpha transparencies, or if they have it's a separate mesh which doesn't glow. How can I have the cake and eat it too? Thanks in advance!

I don't know if this will work, but I recently helped someone make a part of a desk glow (with A LOT of help from qolygonal). The problem with using the PhongAlpha shader is that it won't display vertex paint. Even if you clone a lamp and it already has the stride value and color line, etc., as explained in the post. The only way I could get a mesh with the PhongAlpha shader to (sort of) glow was to enable UseVertSelfIllumination. It won't behave like a lamp, however. It will just come on automatically at night and turn off automatically in the morning. I think, too, that you will need to include a light source. If you clone a lamp it will have one already and will be set up to accept any changes you make to the light source. If you don't clone a lamp you'll need to follow all of the steps in that tutorial I wrote. If you know of anything in the game that glows and has transparency please let me know. I'd like to study it. Here's an example of a lamp issue I was working on. This is Freeasabird's mesh so I hope she doesn't mind me sharing it. The circles are all on one single plane (six circles per plane) and are using the PhongAlpha shader. I tested the lamp using GlassforObjectsTranslucents and it didn't work as well.

Use Phong and the lightmap to make your item have transparency and glow. If you want to test: transpglowtest.packageYou can also look into the ScrollingLight and FullBright shaders. I couldn't get PhongAlpha to use the lightmap. The only item I've found with this setup is fireplaceWall2x1_EP03ENTHIGHglass. But its lightmap doesn't work 😒

Yeah, I'd forgotten to mention that with the lamp, the lightbulb is using the Phong shader and has been vertex painted, so there is a glow because of that. The rest of the lamp required the PhongAlpha shader and it just looked dark without enabling UseVerSelfIllumination.
