Greetings,
I'm seeing some odd behavior from Sims4Studio, and was wondering if there's a maximum amount of stuff it can handle. I figured out how to accomplish my goal of making existing game objects craftable, and am making a package file of just the new recipes. I started with one as a template, and each object I add I duplicate the previous object's Recipe Tuning and Sim Data files with new instance numbers. I'm about twenty new recipes in or so, and Sims4Studio has started acting strangely. Sometimes when I duplicate, it won't apply the new instance number, and will create a true duplicate; deleting this sometimes doesn't work, sometimes deletes the wrong copy, sometimes deletes another item in the list entirely.
Have I run up against a maximum number of "warehouse" items in Sims4Studio? Is duplicating entries normally a bit squirrelly? Just wondering if there's a trick to this -- it's a free program, I have zero complaints about it not working perfectly all the time, I'd just like to know what I should be working around.

You should avoid using the duplicate feature where possible, it's a bit glitchy. Nothing really to do with limits. You could either import a different recipe, or batch export a template and just re-import it with a slightly different instance, and only use duplicate every now and then (and when you do make sure you change the instance when the popup appears, don't leave it as the original).

Thanks, I'll have to set up a template. I also figured out why things were going strange: after duplicating the Recipe Tuning with a new instance, I would enter the new recipe name in the Data tab and all seemed well. But the tuning ID wasn't changing in the XML tab. So of course things were getting weird! Changing one letter of the recipe name and changing it back in the Data tab seems to do the trick, though. It seems as if the problem is that whether I duplicate or create a new Recipe Tuning file, entering an accurate instance number creates an accurate tuning ID in the Data tab, so when I paste in the correct recipe name, it doesn't change. Nothing happens in the XML tab unless I change the recipe name in the Data tab, which changes both the instance and the tuning ID. Is the usual method to use a placeholder instance? Like, give every new recipe a starter instance of 0 or something, so that when you enter the recipe name it all fixes itself?

Yeah, I use a placeholder instance when duplicating and then rename the recipe to give it a new instance and tuning ID.

Great, thanks! I'll do that from now on. Appreciate the help.
