Hi. We need to see the file in which you encounter the problem. The one you shared has no uvs. If you did not generate automatic uvs for the curves before converting them to mesh, you should have done that.

See Texture space? Enable Use UV for mapping. After you will convert them, there will be straight uvs

And after I apply texture, I change mapping coordinates to UV, correct? Also a quick follow up question: is there a way to reduce poly count other than using decimate? I already have resolution set on 4 for curves and bevels both, but there's still a lot of polys.

You do not need to change anything in the material settings after you convert the curves to mesh. Just rearrange the uv islands I explained how to reduce the polycount of curves here sims4studio.com/post/175988/thread

Do you create a new material with New button, then the new texture with New button as well? It is meant to be set to UV by default when you do it like that But yes, if it for whatever reason does not happen automatically, choose UV

I guess it doesn't happen automatically for me. Thank you again for helping me out. The only thing left is to figure out how to transfer weights and import it properly.
