I've been watching lots of tutorials but I can't work out why I can't weight paint b_Spine2_ for the length of the hair. (I want to make it so that it morphs with the weight slider, so it won't clip through the bodies of bigger sims). I really have tried avoiding asking here, I know there's probably a simple answer out there I just can't find it. The only bones responsible for morphing are the ones that have CAS in their name. b_Spine2_ is not one of them. That is uv_1. If you want the tails to morph with the body, they must receive the data from the head+torso mesh. You must vertex paint your mesh the right way for this to work. The tails must be painted with 007f00, not 007f02. - expand the rig, make head_2 and top selectable; - select head_2, in 2d view press Shift D to duplicate, then Esc to confirm. Do the same with top. Select top.001, shift-select head_2, join with Ctrl j. Rename to "reference". Select it, switch to edit mode, select the area of the neck where the head and the top are meant to be joined, remove doubles; - transfer uv_1 from this mesh to the hair
- vertex paint the tails with 007f00, it will not work otherwise. It is done like this Vertex paint dictates what variation (skin-tight and robe-like) of deformation maps the painted area will deform according to in CAS during body customization and animation. 00FF00 is for skint-tight areas, 3FFF00 is for any skirt-like area ( skirts, bottom parts of dresses, coats, aprons, etc). Start by choosing 00FF00 and Paint - Set vertex color 1). Disable Limit selection to visible; 2). Holding Ctrl, lasso-select the bottom part of the mesh starting somewhere in the middle of the pelvic bone; 3). Enable sync; 4). Press B and deselect legs; 5). Switch to Vertex paint and enable Face selection masking for painting; 6). Type in 3FFF00; 7). Paint - Set vertex colors; 8). Press A twice to deselect and select everything again, Paint - Smooth vertex colors
