Hello, can somebody please explain to me how can I add a normal map to a CAS item that does not support them (the button to import it is unavailable) and how to set it up in the warehouse? I'm trying to add body details to sims by using the tattoo slot, from my research on the forum I've gathered that I need to add a RLES image resource to the warehouse, and then make a Geometry one and use the data from the RLES to have it referenced in the Geometry resource. I tried adding a normalmap into the material tab of the geometry, but when I try to save the package I encounter an error. I'd really appreciate is someone could help me, I'd also love to know if it's possible to classify it as makeup of some kind so it can be regulated in game with the opacity slider

oh well, I managed to solve this on some level and given there are no tutorials on this and I can't post in the relevant section, here goes : 1 add your resource as DST IMAGE - take note of their warehouse data tab (instance, group, type) 2 go to the GEOMETRY resource in the warehouse, scroll down to the MATERIAL tab in their data section 3 add a node in item redaction. Set the count to 0, the field to NORMALMAP, float to TEXTURE, and under the KEY section insert the datas of the DST resource Currently researching on doing this for CAS items that don't have a geometry, so if anyone has an idea on how to do this please reply

Hi. I think you did it righthi there! I saw that one but I was setting the normal in the CASresource and the tutorial didn't mention how to link the normals in the material so it was trial and error. Do you have any idea how to make something like a tattoo use a normal map, given there isn't a geometry resource? I'm trying to use a fake mesh, the same the base game assigns to some accessories, and I'm wondering if there's any way to trick the game into believing the mesh exists and apply the normal on the base body. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to explore my options 🙏

have you tried cloning gloves, importing maps, changing the category to tattoo, then changing the composition method?

In the warehouse tab there’s “CAS part”. Click on it and type “composition” in the search bar to the right. You will see 0, which means the texture does not blend with the skin. You can change that number to that of tattoo or whatever type of skin detail that you want

Any ideas? should I also change something in the additional texture space settin in the caspart? Also I appreciate the help <3

Could you please share the package? Nothing showed up as in the item is not in the catalogue in-game or no normal map? If the later, make sure you're checking on the highest graphics settings Not sure about other settings, but in theory, no

Hi. Unfortunately no. The normal map is not made correctly but even if you were to fix it, it would still not work. It is tied to geometry of the specific package, not in general, unfortunately. Thought maybe someone else knows a way out but there is most likely none. The only solution is to make an entire full-body nude mesh and use the normal map for it only

This would also lead to problems with alpha hair or other content that utilises transparency. Usually people just make a more detailed body and add such details to it
