So I took a break from sims for a few months and haven't used blender or s4s for a while but I'm very familiar with both. I'm back to playing the sims and making poses and decided to make some adjustments to some old poses I have in my game. However, when I open the poses in blender there is no texture on the rig. Like the UV female body texture that usually comes with the rig when you export from s4s with the pale skin and grey underwear is not there. No matter if I'm clicked on rendered, texture, or material, the rig is just black (white for rendered). Did something change with s4s while I was away?
It might be important to mention that before I left I tried to use a custom rig for the first time. I followed a tutorial using sim ripper to apply a .dae file to my rig so that I could see my sims skin/hair/clothes/etc. It worked but I had to do that to an individual pose. It wasn't like I changed my default rig or uv (I don't remember that being the case at least). But I have no idea why I cannot see the default uv anymore. I know I can download it and apply it myself but I dont want to do that every time I make a pose or open and close the blend file.
Please help, what is going on?!
Edit: If I create a brand new pose by downloading a blank ea clip I can see the texture but only in rendered mode. Not ideal because I need to see the face and contours and stuff. So blender(2.79) knows what texture to use but it wont show it to me like normal? And I tried to manually put in the texture under the texture tab but when I select it nothing happens.

Hi. S4S probably cannot locate the texture. Make sure you have the latest version of s4s and the paths in s4s settings lead to ts4 installation folder with \ in the and and .blender.exe file in the installation folder

mauvemorn nope not the issue. Im updated to latest s4s and my blender and sims 4 paths are set correctly. Idk if you saw the edit to my post but i can see the base texture in the texture tab so I know blender knows where to look but for some reason its not applying it. imgur.com/a/uadij7pEdit: its also happening with objects, not just poses. No textures are loading at all unless im in render mode :(

Can you please share the blend in which the texture is present but is not displayed correctly?

it's not the blend. I can start a blend from scratch and textures will not show. I assume it's some blender setting but I have no idea what setting. I've got hundreds of old .blend files and I can open each one up and none of the textures show. I have found a 14 page thread with someone who had the exact same problem. They are terrible at explaining and understanding but their issue is exactly what is happening to me. steamcommunity.com/app/365670/discussions/0/1458455461485104210/?l=turkish&ctp=14Edit: issue was never solved on that thread

mauvemorn under user preferences > file > textures... should I have a path set up here?

We need to see the blend file in which the issue occurs to see how the material is set up to know why it is not displaying the texture that is plugged into it. I’m from mobile and cannot see anything in the screenshot because imgur shows a very small version of it on mobile devices for some reason. The path should be set up in s4s settings, as shown in the picture I attached in the second post.

mauvemorn . I can send u a blend but as i explained its not connected to the blend. its a setting somewhere. and that was not the path i was talking about. I was referring to the blender settings not s4s.

mauvemorn, i discovered this weirdness. Someone sent me a blend they made, its supposed to show all sides with that texture (i can see it when rendered) but some sides are black. and then the shading option lets me see the texture is there on all sides but idk why i am seeing any shading in texture view. Any thoughts on what could be causing the black? drive.google.com/file/d/1ftInx_65fefvtDcWtZW5dQv00r5j-ayT/view?usp=sharing

Everything looks fine in my case in the blend you shared, the texture appears and the material is set up as intended. As for the video, it is just the shading. There is only one source of light in the scene, so everything it does not reach is dark. It is not the same issue as in your blend
Back to your blend: 1). Open it and try doing File - Load factory settings, just in case something was ticked somewhere.
2). If wont work, what happens when you delete the material completely? Does it stay black? And what happens when you create a new one from scratch and plug in your texture there?
3). Can you create a new scene, smart unwrap the default cube, create and assign a new material to it, then plug in any texture into it? Will it show up?
4). As i understand, it looks the same in all versions you have? If yes and nothing above will help, try deleting all versions, doing a clean up, then installing only one of them, changing the path to it. Then export a new blend and check it.
Also, you do not need to change any paths within blender, everything in the scene should be set up as intended

mauvemorn I have tried factory settings. I have unistalled and reinstalled. From scratch the cube is black. Any blend I load is black. I could download a new mesh online and load it and it is black. I can try the material stuff but I know its a setting not the blend. I cannot create poses (facial expressions) with a black texture so even though things export and show up in game its impossible to use blender at all when I cant see textures and shadows (only shadow I can see is that one cube).

mauvemorn also did u notice where the lamp was though. that was the point of the video. no matter where the lamp or cube was the light was not shining on the correct sides. so the shadows werent really behaving like shadows.

mauvemorn, ok so I just downloaded 2.70 and everything looks right in it. Any idea how i can fix 2.78 since that's the latest that is compatible? I uninstalled 2.78 using windows 10 "add or remove programs" and on top of that deleted the blender foundation folder completely. When I reinstalled and did file > open > it immediately took me back to the same folder I was in so that makes me think its not really deleting all the data and keeping some weird setting in its data. Any idea where this hidden data could be?

2.79 is also supported on some computers.
I assume this is related to your graphic card (maybe it is not updated?check the drives). You will have a higher chance of finding the solution if you will ask about this issue on blender-themed forums, generally the knowledge of blender of people who visit Creator help is limited to ts4 cc-making process
