Apologies if this is the wrong section. I'm not looking to actually create anything.
I much prefer playing with alpha hair in my game, but I do get annoyed with having a mix of alpha and maxis, so every few months i'll throw out my alpha hair folder and try to play with maxis match, but I just don't like it as much.
So I thought I would look into replacing the games default hairs with alpha hairs.
I see plenty of overrides done by folks but they are all maxis match, as far as I can find.
What i'm looking to do is to take already existing alpha cc hairs and mark them overrides of the maxis hairs. They wont be 1:1 matches but I'm not concerned with that, I'm fine just picking hairs that are similar in length and such.
I ran into a problem immediately (of course) so I was just wondering if someone could break it down for me? What I got to:
Have S4S
Have Blender
Extracted hair mesh from S4S into Blender, and the texture files
**Do I have to do anything with this if I don't want anything changed?
Go to 'Override' in S4S under CAS
Pick hair I want to replace (shift select all the colors), Next
Name the file
Go to the Mesh tab and import the alpha mesh
And here is where I ran into a problem, the mesh seems to work but when I go to import the texture file, it says it is too large (it's 2xxx-2xxx instead of the 1xxx it wants). If the file is already working in game, how is this possible?
And, the alpha hair comes in lots of recolors, but I only see the one main color. Where do I find all the other swatches it comes with? I found this
I know this is a huge undertaking but I have nothing but time and determination so, lol. If this workflow is bad/wrong, please tell me the correct one!
