hi everyone, i've been trying to convert a pair of sunglasses for my game. problem is the mesh i've been using has 3 different parts and when i import it on s4s it only shows 1 of the 3 parts. i tried to merge the 3 objects into one but the uv map gets messed up cause of the lenses and part of the frame appear neon green in game instead of showing the texture i used. thank you in advace.

Hi. Clone maxis sunglasses, export the blend, open. You will see two meshgroups: lenses and the frame. They have different cut numbers. To replace these meshgroups in the package and inherit correct tuning, your sunglasses must be split in the same number of meshgroups and have corresponding cuts (lenses replace lenses and inherit Simglass shader, the frame replaces the frame and inherits Simskin shader) Now, if you were to select these two meshgroups, join them with Ctrl J, and assign this template in the background in the uv editor, you'd see that their uvs occupy the specific place on the map and do not overlap. Yours must be like that as well.
- Start by moving the uvs of each part of your glasses away from the uv space; - Join them, assign the template. If the uvs stretch vertically, select them all and S Y 0.5 to bring them to their original size. Put them in the space meant for glasses; - once done, select all uvs and Uvs - Export uv layout to use as a guide when editing textures. If your glasses come with the textures, you can re-bake them instead; - If you havent already, assign the mesh to the head bone;
- vertex paint it with 007f00;
- select and separate lenses with P - Selection. Give this separated meshgroup the same cut number the lenses had; - give the frame the other cut; - import in the blend, re-do the textures.
