Are the tray files for the sims made up of xml codes i.e. script tunings? I wanted to know what parts of the tray files can be readily identified as floorplans and what files can be identified as maybe the object/furniture placements/xyz-axis position.
Maybe there is actually a way to translate these tray files' basic components so it can be read by the sims 3 game engine? What type of program do you think can open these files?

The tray files are binary files. There is a closed source 'Tray Importer' and you could ask the author about the format or resources which describe the format. As an alternative one could create a script mod to log all items and their positions/rotations to a file. While I guess it's much faster to rebuild things in TS3 than writing code to export/import it.

Because of the sheer amount of houses/lots I'd like to import from the sims 4 to the sims 3, I just didn't think I could build them all--also I'm terrible at building in both games so haha I'll try to see if I could go about building script to log the lot information (position of walls, stairs, doorways, etc.). My aim to just be able to export the shell of the buildings or infrastructure of the lot from sims 4 to the sims 3. I can fill up the houses with similar furniture once I can actually get the house shell into the sims 3...

`object_manager = services.object_manager()` should return all objects. I'm not sure whether walls are included there. For parented objects like chairs their relative position to the parent is returned, so either keep the reference to the parent or lookup it's position.
