So you have two things here.
One you can set up the parents to do whatever they want while you play the teen... but you need to set them up with autonomous jobs. Like business, cook, music etc. You'll still have to a bit of management from them because they will potentially get fired, promoted, be prompted for answers on the burning questions of life, and also bills need paid etc... There's even a toddler challenge where you start the game as a toddler and you do not switch from the toddler until they're Adults/Elders (can't remember how long people run the challenge) so you can play without having to guide them much if at all.
The second... you can't separate their money from your teen without the teen living in his own household. There is one possible solution that I haven't tested that could work is making them roommates if you have Discover University. Your parent set up a thing for a "roommate" and the teen accepts. Or the teen could and make the parents pay them... Alternatively, you could just buy some really expensive build items and put them in your build inventory and not touch them so that there is little money for him to mess around with.
This may no longer be relevant with for rent, you maybe able to make a rental property for the kid and not worry about the parents at all.

Noob here- literally my first time using S4S. I already made a recolor of a sweater, which went perfectly fine. I tested it in-game, and everything looked good. Then I tried to do another shirt, and it was fine until I tried to save it. It won't let me, and every time I try, It gives me the same error box:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The File: C:/Users/luana/Desktop/Parenthood recolor.package is not a Sims 4 package.
If this is a file from your game folder, please try running the Repair option or reinstall your game.
If this is a file you downloaded, please try re-downloading it from the website it came from.
Common causes of this are: 1. Incomplete download 2. another file was saved over the .package
------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Does anyone know what this means or what I did wrong?
EDIT: I fixed it! I think I had something else saved with the same name. I deleted it and it saved successfully!

I have a couple of questions that might seem like Noob questions but I was only able to buy Sims 4 earlier this year so there's a lot of things that I don't fully know yet how can I save one family and move it to another safe file and how can I save a a bill without uploading it to the gallery.

I have a couple of questions that might seem like Noob questions but I was only able to buy Sims 4 earlier this year so there's a lot of things that I don't fully know yet how can I save one family and move it to another safe file and how can I save a a bill without uploading it to the gallery. The gallery is not exactly your library and your library is not exactly your gallery but they are accessed from similar methods. You must save the items to your library to switch them around. While in the lot, in build mode go to the top toolbar. The toolbar has a folder symbol. If you clicked it you get to choose either the selected room if applicable, or the entire lot. Clicking one of these will save the chosen selection and save it to your library. At this point, you can choose to upload to the gallery via an up-arrow located at the bottom right. Saving it to your library doesn't have to save it to the gallery where it's shared with everyone. You do the same for families. I believe the library button and the gallery button are on opposite sides of the bottom. Or the top right. I don't remember exactly...
