Hi. We would need to see the package and blend files to know for sure. It can be clipping, flipped normals, misaligned textures, too many meshgroups, etc

Yeah, that is clipping. If you were to look at maxis hair, you'd see that it is not made of individual strands like yours, its manifold ( an overall shape without intersections). Well, the best way would be to go back to the blend before you converted curves to mesh and move them individually. If you do not have it, you can enable proportional editing with Connected only, change Transform orientation to Normal, and set Object gizmo to Move. Then select a face in the clipping area and move the blue gizmo. This is a pain that will not produce good results, so it would be best to just remake the hair the correct way instead of using curves for the whole mesh.

Edit: How exactly do I do a manifold?

The easiest way would be to reshape the existing maxis hair and remake the bangs. If you want to make it completely from scratch, you can reshape the maxis hair and then use Bsurface addon to create loops on the surface of it and then connect them to create a new surface. May sound complicated but actually is pretty straightforward and much faster than curves, you just need to watch some tutorial that explains how bsurface addon works
