So, in essence, I'm looking to replace the werewolf hands with more paw-like ones. Ideally, this would be an override like the digitigrade legs, but if that is somehow not possible for hands, it could probably work as a skin detail.
The problem is, though, I'm not actually sure how that would /work/. For one, how would I export the hands mesh to begin with, for two how would I get my object to hide/replace the existing hands as well as use the default hand texture?

Hi. The hands do not come as a separate region of the body, you cannot tune your item to exclude them from any outfit. The only ways of doing what you have in mind is to either cover the hands with the paws(accessory) completely ( will not work well because fingers move dramatically and will poke out from the paws) or to just edit the werewolf upper body. - click CAS, in the search bar paste Top_Werewolf. The first one is for the feminine frame, the second is for the masculine; - choose, Next, name it something, export the blend file; - edit the hands, re-import; - this will be a standalone item. If you want an override, instead of CAS, choose Override

Update: ...Figured it out. Apparently it has something to do with the vertex groups.
(also I'd forgotten the werewolves have claws as a separate part lmao so I'm overriding that too.)

The claws are not adapted to function with the rest of the body
- open uv_0, at the bottom you will see the uvs of the claws. Enable sync, press B, select the uvs of the claws. Right now they are not where they should be, the nails usually go above arms, you can use the texture of the default maxis nails as a reference; - with nails still selected, in 3D view press P - Selection to separate them; - with the body still selected, delete all the vertex groups of the claws from the list, starting from the bottom. There should be no foreign names there that do not belong to ts4 rig, this is why the game crashed; - select the claws, delete all vertex groups from the list. Select the body, shift-select the claws, transfer weights as shown below - add Data transfer, choose the body as Source object, set the rest like in the second part of the pic, apply - vertex paint the mesh with 00FF00 ( steps 2 and 5); - join back or use as a standalone item

Okay, so, coming back to this- it works ingame, however one thing I've noticed is that, if I have my werewolf sim wear any clothing tops, the hands revert to default.
Is there a way to fix this without editing every individual top??

you need to remove the rest of the upper body and turn the remaining hands into an accessory.
