So I downloaded some CC that adds unicorn horns ( link) and I'm trying to recolor it, however, I noticed a bug that I need to address before I go any further and waste my time recoloring some potentially broken CC. The first time I took a look at the unicorn horn in CAS, there was a visual bug that added a solid color stripe on the horn as you can see here. At this point I realized that I hadn't deleted my cache since adding the new CC and decided to quit the game and try deleting my cache to see if that would fix the issue, which it did. But then a couple days later, the bug came back, and this time deleting my cache did not resolve the issue. What I noticed however is that the stripe is the same color as the sim's shirt as you can see in the screenshot, and when I took the shirt off the bug disappeared (but of course it comes back when you put the shirt back on). Does anyone know why this might be happening and what I could do to fix it? I'm especially puzzled because deleting the cache fixed it the first time, but not the second time. Thank you. EDIT: I should note as well that the horn is actually categorized as a glove if that matters.

Looks like an UV mapping issue. The horn is mapped outside of the regular accessory area (between the arms, most likely a space people would use for oversize shirt arms and such), so most likely it won't work with clothing items that also use that UV space (these items will overlay the texture onto the horn).
You'll likely be able to use the horn with some clothes, but not with others. That's why the issue seems to appear and disappear.

Likely an UV mapping issue. Looks like the horn is mapped outside of the regular accessory area (between the arms, most likely a space people would use for larger shirt arms and such), so most likely it won't work with clothing items that also use that UV space (these items will overlay the texture onto the horn). You'll likely be able to use the horn with some clothes, but not with others. That's why the issue seems to appear and disappear. I think you're right. When I change the shirt the bug is completely gone for some shirts and then on others it'll remap the texture of the shirt onto the horn in different places (sometimes it's a stripe on the side, sometimes it's just the tip of the horn etc). Is there any hope of just fixing this issue altogether? EDIT: I think I figured it out actually. I'm going through a few tutorials about UV mapping now. However if anyone wants to link me to any tutorials they particularly like go for it. Thanks again for the help!

If you want the same size texture, you can map it in the hat area (you'll have to turn the UVs 90 degrees for it to fit), since with the placement of the horn you're probably not too likely to use hats with it. For this one in particular, all you really have to do is to find a preferred spot on the map (preferably in the accessory area, since a lot of CC clothes use the areas further down) that interferes with the least amount of other accessories/items you want to use together with it, possibly scale down and/or turn 90 degrees if need be, and if you choose a square rather than a rectangle area, you may have to move the UV islands around a bit. You shouldn't need to do any complicated moves (like remapping from scratch). You'll also have to redo the textures to fit the new UVmap, or they won't look good. Here's an UV template (not updated for the latest changes such as nails etc., but should still work fine for most accessories). sims4studio.com/thread/62/fix-uv-map-template?page=1&scrollTo=58687
