Apologies for the long post; I’m new to recolouring and completely stuck so I’m hoping if I explain my problem in detail someone may be able to help!
I’ve downloaded a colour palette called Scientist from Serindipity Sims that I want to use to recolour some EA hairs.
These are the hex codes:

Other creators have coloured some of EA's hairs and this is a screenshot of tone e2c3bf from one of those creator's hair files and shows what I am aiming for:
Another creator's recolour
However, I am trying to recolour other EA hairs myself using the Dirty Blonde swatch, as per the palette creator’s instructions, and have recoloured it in both GIMP and paint.net using tone e2c3bf, but the tone always comes up lighter and washed out.
Here are the results I get from GIMP whether I recolour a png or dds file:

Here are the results I get from paint.net whether I recolour a png or dds file:
my recolour in paint.net
The palette creator presumably used Photoshop to create the palette as she included a Photoshop actions and swatches file with the palette, but as I understand recolouring (although as mentioned I’m new to it!) whether I were using GIMP, Paint.net or Photoshop the results of a simple recolour should all be showing the same tone (like the one by another creator as shown above) so I’m at a complete loss as to why my recolours are coming up so much lighter than other creators.
I haven’t changed any settings in either GIMP or Paint.net, I’ve simply selected the Colorize or Recolor option (depending on the program) and typed in the hex code and the above is what I get.
If anyone has any idea why my recolours are coming up so much lighter and washed out compared to other creators I would really appreciate the help!
