Hello, I have a question about vertex color. I'm still a bit confuse about the difference between #00FF00 (skintight) & #3FFF00 (robe morph) & where should I paint it. Can someone explain the difference?
The color almost looks the same & sampling from maxis object sometimes gives slight variation of the above colors. Any help is appreciated.

Hi. In ts4 morphing is handled through certain bones ( they have CAS in their name, for example, b__ CAS_L_Breast__) and Dmaps. Dmaps come in two variations: robe and skintight. Vertex paint dictates according to which variation the painted area should morph. Painting the skirt or the area between breasts with 3FFF00 prevents them from sinking. The skirt also expands differently, more as a whole instead of specific areas, no individual calf morphing as well. Only those areas should be painted with 3FFF00, not the whole dress So the area where the mesh sinks should already be painted with 3FFF00. The color should gradually mix with the skintight morph. However, instead of doing all of this you can simply transfer vertex paint from a similar mesh the same way you do uv_1

I see, I think I get it more now. I'll try checking other similar maxis object. Thank you :D

Replying to add that the voidfeathersims blog has been removed. However, the page has been archived by the WaybackMachine, and you can view it here: [TUTORIAL] Sims 4 Vertex painting Colors Guide (UPDATED!!!!). The voidfeathersims page is also linked to as a vertex painting tutorial from Maxis Match CC World. I came across all of this when I searched "Sims 4 all vertex colors." I saved the image for easy reference in case anyone else finds this page.
The colors are:
CLOTHES 00FF00 - skin tight
3fff00 - robe morph
HAIR
007f00 - hair accessories 007f3f - hairline roots
OBJECTS 000000 ffffff - lamp glow
