3.3.7 is the last supported version. While 2.7x and 3+ are worlds apart, for us, there is not much difference between them. If you are new, use 2.7x, because most of the tutorials will be in it. But if you already have experience working in 3+, you will have no hard time adapting the tutorial to 3+
