Hi. In you case it is not a file format, it is the size. Export the original image and check its dimensions. Yours must be the same, so crop it and make it bigger or smaller

The normal map requires an alpha channel but the specular map does not. Just as an FYI, you'll need a DDS plugin for Photoshop or Gimp.

Fwecka, alpha channel in dds is the same thing as a transparency mask in png. png can be used for everything.
You should try installing the latest version of s4s beta. The community tested version is very old, who knows what can be wrong with it. If the image is of the right size, you do not need to be jumping over hoops to import it. Logically, a wall texture does not even need an alpha channel. This is a bug of some sort

I use Photoshop 2020 because I didn't...um...exactly...pay for it. Because I use an older version of Photoshop, the 8.55 version of the Nvidia plugin works fine for me. Here are the plugins that I have if you need them. The newest version of the Nvidia plugin made Photoshop freeze for me so I stayed with the older version. I've never had a need for anything other than what I'm using. I have the Gimp plugin, too, if you need it. Just let me know and I'll upload it.
