Hi, how are you all?
Sorry for so much text, but I need to explain myself well and be understood, but don't worry, I'll go in parts.
I accept criticism in the process, no problem.
INTRO:
I am new here in this forum and I am starting the modification with this project that I want to make public,
with very little knowledge of blender and concepts, but reading a lot, and above all with a lot of desire and new ideas.
OBJETIVE:
To get to the point I'm needing one or more people with knowledge in modifying body meshes in this game,
who if possible have a little availability and patience to help me with this,
my goal of course is to learn from this little by little to be able to become independent only in the world of body modification.
The guides, tutorials and comments are always highly appreciated, I always feed on that good feedback
but, there are times when I have very specific doubts at the moment and I would love to solve them in real time and therefore,
I will leave my Discord user so that you can add me and share ideas there, I thank you from the bottom of my heart,
nick: Franskorpion
With all this said, I will start by explaining everything a bit.
HISTORY:
I started this because I saw the need to improve what for me is the best replacement mod in WW for feet, which is version 5
of the author "firetruck**shims" that despite being good has many imperfections both in shape and texture.
A few days ago, I saw a model of the overwatch Tracer character with a special foot-focused mesh
and I thought it would be cool to port that to the game.
So I did some research with ChatGPT if it was possible to port this as a mod to the sims 4, to which I saw positive responses.
WHAT HAVE I DONE SO FAR?
Therefore, I downloaded Blender 3.3.0 and Sims4Studio 3.2.0.6 for compatibility.
Then with S4S I extracted the mesh of the mod
to import it into blender and observe the characteristics and properties of the object to try to understand,
and learn from what was there.
Then I separately extracted the feet of the character Tracer as an object, which luckily were not part of the whole body
but were separated in the collection list of the scene, which allowed me to easily import it without having to crop,
then into blender together with the mod.
What I could appreciate is that it has a "cut" value of 0000 in the S4S section, one of the few things that I'm still learning
and that it serves to visualize the mod in S4S from what I understand.
There was a file called "Rig" which I think refers to the skeleton of the sim and from what I saw,
it is linked with a modifier to the feet or vice versa along with its vertex group or something.
I also know that the game has certain limits with the theme of polygons so I lowered the quality a bit with the "decimate"
modifier to a value of 1 to 0.07 and thus have an average of about 12 thousand.
RESULTS?
Despite my efforts, I have not achieved good results, however in the game you can at least appreciate his good form as such.
As you will see in the images, I have 2 problems (or more who knows)
- Positioning of the feet on the legs
- Textures
because I know that there are certain concepts and things that I still don't know in blender, and from what I read all this is a matter of weights, vertex groups and UV maps (I think)
PRIORITIES:
My main goal right now is actually to focus on solving positioning first.
Afterwards I will calmly solve everything little by little the issue of textures.
CONCLUSION:
I think this is a great project and so far (in my personal opinion) the most realistic in terms of feet, which is almost always the weak point of body mods.
I also think this will help me better understand how blender works and mods for the sims 4, as well as create better things for the game.
Thank you very much, do not forget to add me those who have something to teach me and contribute or collaborate with the project,
I really think it is very good, a hug.
