Hi I'm new to modding and I'm trying to make my first trait using TDESC Browser but I have a few questions.
I need to change the ages in sim data to match the trait tuning, does anyone know if they are any particular codes or just random numbers?

The TDESC Browser makes the SimData for you based on your tuning, you can download it by clicking this button. Tutorial on using the browser: www.patreon.com/posts/82310939But to answer your question, they are not random numbers. Once you've got the SimData downloaded you can compare the numbers to the order of ages in the tuning and you will see which number matches which age.

Is there an advantage to using TDESC Browser compared to Mod Constructor V5 when making traits? Is one more user-friendly or beginner friendly? [I've never heard of the former and I've only poked around the latter a bit, so I'd love to know for my own edification, as well as if it might help the OP to switch programs.]

[I've never heard of the former and I've only poked around the latter a bit, so I'd love to know for my own edification, as well as if it might help the OP to switch programs.] Sorry, I didn't see this. TDESC Browser is the better option because it's using the latest TDESCs from EA to make the traits (or any files), and the TDESC is official documentation on what is inside the files and what they do. It also helps you learn how to make mods without making copy/paste or structure mistakes, which is honestly one of the main pitfalls when just starting. Once you understand what exactly the TDESC is and what you want to do, I'd say it's the more beginner friendly option, but could possibly be overwhelming at first. Meanwhile MC's tuning bases it uses inside the program for building mods is made by the creator by hand instead of using the latest TDESC as a builder, and because of that is prone to causing errors or being outdated. He also does not always use the same terms from the TDESCs, and the files it outputs have odd names and not labeled, which causes confusion for those switching from MC to manually creating tuning or when people are trying to help. The program also has limitations because every file type has to be made by him as a base and added to the program, and the majority are missing still because of it. As a modder who has looked at it several times throughout the years (including when I started), I'd say it's less beginner friendly, but for others that may not be the case. Like most things it's a mileage may vary. Overall though we generally recommend new modders avoid MC if they want to understand what they are doing in the long run and how to handle their tuning, but if people are only interested in making quick simple stuff, especially for personal use, it's probably a good option.
