Selecting a 3D mesh to create not working.

I'm new to sims 4 studio so I looked up a tutorial on how to make my own CC, specifically hairs and I'm confused it seems I've looked everywhere and there's not a single solution. :( When I open up the app, I click Create 3D Mesh and then CAS and not a single options shows up. its just a blank white screen and messing around with the male and female or pack options seems to do nothing. someone told me its because I have an older version. (3.1.6.3 wishes) but if there is a newer version I can't find it. I'm sorry if this is dumb, I've never done this before lol T-T
