So I've looked through a few tutorials and none of them explain how to do exactly what I want to do. So, I've been wanting to make a functional object that is invisible in live mode but visible in build mode (to make it easier to move/remove). I've used both the tutorial to make objects invisible and the tutorial to make objects invisible in build mode/visible in live mode but they only let me do one of the functions. If I make the object visible in build mode/invisible in live mode then the object seems to lose its function and can't be clicked on. I've looked at the warehouse page for the wedding aisle that becomes invisible in live mode and I'm not exactly sure what makes it work. Thank you for any help in advance.

I'm still wondering about this, I tried copying some of the tuning from the MWS wedding aisle but I don't think I grabbed the right bit.

With some help from awingedllama I was able to find the solution to this problem in case anyone was wondering how to do it. You need to untick the F1000 flag under Model LOD - Meshes. It doesn't make it visible at any point but it works for making a functional object invisible.

Hi forgottenpixels I'm trying this now with a dishwasher, so thank you for sharing! Edit: I tried what you said and it made the dishwasher invisible, but also invisible in Buy/Build mode. But it works fine, just can't see it in Buy/Build mode.

Hi forgottenpixels I'm trying this now with a dishwasher, so thank you for sharing! Edit: I tried what you said and it made the dishwasher invisible, but also invisible in Buy/Build mode. But it works fine, just can't see it in Buy/Build mode. One thing you can try is to make a some pixels visible on the texture. If you're using a DDS, make your alpha channel all black except for the section you want to show in live mode; that part would be white. If it's a PNG, make your texture entirely transparent except for a section you want to show in live mode. I don't know how to explain this well, sorry. It would be easier to look at an example file. Take a look at the second swatch's diffuse image and hopefully you'll see what I'm talking about. I haven't attempted to make anything like what you're doing so I don't know if what I'm explaining will help or not, but perhaps it's worth a try.
