Hi, I'm new to this - I'm trying to make a recolor of a CC table, and would like to edit the spec map to make the tiles reflect a good amount of light. I've tried editing/replacing the spec map in the warehouse tab since it doesn't show up as an option in the studio>texture tab as with diffusion textures. I have tried adding light to the blue channel, but when I load the item in-game, there are no changes from the orignial object. I've tried saving as DXT5, DXT1 and png without luck. Here's my file: drive.google.com/file/d/13uJdWeX5OGw_htlJ3unRxIRhQxw_jIld/view?usp=sharingCheers

This tutorial is very in depth on how to get the specular map you desire

I wrote a loooong tutorial about a conversion here. From steps 79 - 116 I have instructions on how to use Little Dica's specular picker, as well as a description of what each channel in a specular map does. Combine the specular picker with the ID map technique in the video at the 8:45 mark and you can crank out a specular very quickly! I wish I knew about making an ID map in Blender when I wrote the tutorial. Oh, well. One thing to note is that the alpha channel doesn't affect the overall strength of the specular. It actually dictates the strength of the sun and moon reflections.

Did you create a new image resource in the warehouse? There's an image file with the instance number 130E5ED02A217FC3 that isn't connected with any of the meshes. The specular map in the package you shared has an instance number of D9E786FBC6E21002. That's the resource you need to replace. In other words, it looks like you have two specular maps in the warehouse instead of one. You should delete the 130E5ED02A217FC3 resource as it's not doing anything and replace the image file with the instance number D9E786FBC6E21002 with your specular. Better yet, export the textures and meshes, clone a new table, and re-import everything except the original specular. Use your specular, instead. Sometimes it's easier to just start from scratch.

Thank you for looking into it, these are some nice tips I'll try to work with. The excessive '130E5ED02A217FC3' image file was just me trying to add a new spec since replacing the original one did not work for me, but nevermind that. I have been working without blender as in the first part of the tutorial since I basically just need to change the specular of the whole object, but that should be fine, no?

Yay! works now. The problem was that I had confused the effect of the green channel with the alpha channel, so your explanation of the specs solved it for me. tysm.
