I have no idea where to put this, I couldn't find any post button on Sims 4 Studio Bug & Error Reports. which isn't even my problem, but at least it was close...
So I downloaded both the installer version and the .zip version. I double clicked the installer version, and the installer launched, but when I clicked Done and had Launch Sims 4 Studio checked, nothing happened. I searched for the exe in C:\Program Files (x86)\Sims 4 Studio, and double clicked S4Studio.exe, nothing ever happened. I checked the Task Manager and saw it appear for a split second then disappear.
I opened the zip version and double clicked S4Studio.exe from there, it gave me the "Windows protected your PC" popup, I clicked Run Anyway but it still never opened. I also tried extracting the zip folder, and it also just doesn't open.
I installed the new Microsoft .NET Framework. I allowed it through my Anti-virus. if one is even active.. I uninstalled Sims 4 Studio (Wishes) and tried to reinstall Sims 4 Studio (Star). I deleted every Sims 4 Studio folder I could find; the one in Program Files (x86), and the one in Documents, then tried to reinstall Star, and it still won't open.
I installed Sims 4 Studio (Wishes), and that opens fine like normal, the problem is only with Sims 4 Studio (Star)... And I really really need to use Sims 4 Studio (Star) because Sims 4 Studio (Wishes) didn't update to support the Horse Ranch Expansion Pack!.. So I can't make any Mods, Poses-Animations, or Custom Content for horses....
I really have no idea what else to try......

Hi. You need to install the specified .net framework, not the latest - delete all versions of s4s from your computer; - in the download page of s4s star in the System requirements section you will find the exact version of net framework that you need. Download and install; - extract the zip file with s4s star into C:\Program Files\, try running again

What I meant by "I installed the new Microsoft .NET Framework" was, I installed the required one linked, and when I opened it it told me I already had it, so I repaired but the application still won't open

I just realized I hadn't installed Studio 3.2.1.1 yet, so I did the following: 1. Uninstalled version 3.2.06 2. Deleted every folder I could find related to Studio 3. Installed .NET framework 6.09 (what the link in Studio's download page led to) 4. Made an exception for Studio in Windows Defender 5. Made an exception for Studio in Controlled Folder Access 6. Tried to launch Studio. Saw this: 7. Clicking on this error message led me to this page.8. Installed .NET framework 6.0.21 9. Launched Studio again and this time it launched successfully.

Thank you so much, that was probably an essential thing to do, so I've done it... It still won't open though..... I don't understand what else I can do to get this to open....

Does anyone have any idea what else I can try to fix this problem...? Shoot. I don't know. Sometimes it's an issue with your computer—as in you need to run ChckDsK or something. It may be that you need to update your computer. Do you have access to another computer? If so, does Studio open on the other computer? Never mind that. You already know it's an issue with your machine. If .NET Framework is the problem this site may be helpful. And I'm still using Windows 10. If you're using Windows 11 your problem could be specific to your operating system.

Hello!
Sorry for reviving a dead thread, but I wanted to stick in an extra bit of info incase anyone else is having this issue and looking for help.
I had the same issue as the original poster: new Windows 11 computer, I could install and run Wishes but trying to install or run Star wasn't working at all-- not even an error message to point me in the right direction. I had installed the exact runtime linked to in the download page and my antivirus wasn't flagging S4S as a problem.
To fix this, I had stick the extracted Zip file into Program Files x86, then right click the application itself and click 'Properties'. Once that opened there was a little box that said the program might be blocked as a security risk and if I trusted it, to unblock it. I unblocked it, applied the new setting then tried to run S4S.
It was once I had done this that I got the same message Fwecka did above regarding .NET needing to be 6.0.25 (which is the latest of the 6 line). I went to the .NET page and downloaded that version. Once I had, Studio finally opened properly.
Is it possible for the Team to update the .NET link on the downloads page? It seems like the last few updates have used an updated .NET but that hasn't been reflected in the instructions.

Apologies for resurrecting a dead thread but I really need help. I tried all the steps, did the property stuff, have deleted and reinstalled over a dozen times and all I get is literally nothing. I double-click the installer, that does nothing. I downloaded the zip files, extracted the files, then tried to open s4studio.exe, and i got a blue swirly thing by my mouse for two seconds, then it disappeared. If i press the windows key, then choose run as admin, it does the same thing. I have been troubleshooting for two full days and really need some help.

Update, no longer need help since I took the properties tip and applied it to the installer file and now it opened! Thanks for all the helpful steps though!
