According to this post it's now possible to add external textures to CAS items:
At the moment studio is unable to read or clone "yfAtt_BackpackEP13InfantCarrier" in all its swatches cause it's using a new format EA has introduced in the latest patch where CAS assets can use textures that are external to the body texture. i think the external texture system is triggered by the texture type being 3453CF95, instead of the usual 00B2D882. I think as long as the texture has that new file type, it's considered as an external UV space. Studio throws a file type error when trying to open these, says the file structure needs to be a DTX5 DDS texture
This was posted in April. Since then Sims 4 Studio has been updated several times. Does it now support this feature?
I found the following in the changelog for version 3.2.0.7:
+ Items with DST textures (infant carriers) now supported.
Does it mean it's now possible to use Sims 4 Studio to add external textures to CAS items? If so, is there a guide how to do this?
