I'm trying to investigate/fix an issue I'm experiencing with clothing mesh imports. On import, the program seems to lose or alter something about the lighting, causing odd shadows on various parts of the mesh. I've tested with different versions of blender, from 2.77 to 3.6, but none of them seem to make a difference. The issue also seems to happen whether I've edited the mesh, or just exported it with S4S and immediately re-imported it without editing the mesh in any way. Curiously, the strange shadows go away if I import my mesh into CMar's CASTools. Sadly that produces a bad noticeable seam at the neck (and none of CASTool's seam fixing options seem to actually fix the seam), and I'd prefer to do my work with S4S overall. But it leads me to question whether something is being handled differently within the programs when it comes to exporting/importing. In the pictures I'm attaching, I've highlighted areas where the shadows are most noticeable - by the chest and on the sleeve where it meets the arm - but there are other more subtle areas that are being affected as well. Does anyone know anything about this issue, and whether there's a workaround? Different blender settings, or some kind of action I could take? I'd love to be able to fix this!

Hi. That is most likely shading along sharp edges. We would need to see the blend before you imported it in s4s I should mention that you cannot jump between versions of blender without changing the path and appending the model in a new scene, so unless you’ve done that, the mesh just did not import at all

I did actually change the blender path in S4S and re-export and edit, and the problem persisted. Also, as I said, the issue happens even in a file that I export and immediately re-import without editing. That's what makes me wonder if S4S is losing or changing some data on export or import, because I would expect an unaltered blend file that I just exported to re-import and look the same. I open S4S, choose "Create CAS Standalone" (or "Create 3D Mesh"), choose the bathing suit/shirt combo in my pictures, export the LOD0 mesh and then immediately re-import it, save, and launch the game. It happens with a blend file that I've made edits to (there's a seam and edge split there, to separate the bikini from the shirt), and a blend file that I've exported/imported without editing. I'm attaching a blend file and package. The blend file is unedited by me, just exported from S4S just a few minutes ago. blend file: www.simfileshare.net/download/4193034/package file: www.simfileshare.net/download/4193069/

Ah, i dont have this kit, so wasnt sure if you exported from a maxis package or a custom one. For this reason, i cannot really test it in-game properly, but the issue does not appear for me when i import the blend and the texture into something else. So that is what you can try ( filter the catalogue by 5 meshgroups, find an item that is split into the sleeve and calf area, then import your files there) Alternatively, you may be able to fix this by moving vertices where the shadows occur. Just the tiniest bit
