Hello everybody. I'm doing this mod request. I don't know if what I'm trying to do is even possible, but I would like to make a custom bed that has a neon light on its underside.
However, Sims 4 Studio has been very unimpressed with my efforts to add a light. If I add one, the software will not allow me to save the package. If I try to change the color of a light, the software crashes. I have been looking at various EA objects for hints on how to do this, but they don't seem to ever combine functional objects with lights. About the closest they get to combining functionality with lights is with the coffee table from City Living that also has a firelight on top of it, but even that's just treated by the game like a free-standing fireplace. I also cannot find any custom content that attempts to do this, which is why I'm concerned that the Sims 4's engine simply doesn't allow combined functionalities like this.
In essence:
A preference: The bed is one object rather than several custom object pieces that slot together. (I've already accepted that the headboard lights will need to be slotted separately, but I'd prefer not to divide up anything else in this mesh)
The bare minimum: Get the underside of the bed to look and respond to shaders like it has a light attached to it.
The ideal: Get the bed to have all the options and functionalities associated with lighting while still being able to act like a bed. The light can be turned off and on, change intensity and color, and consume power.
Am I like Icarus flying too close to the sun or can I actually pull this off? The package is linked below. Apologies in advance for the extra data-- I used the Utopiate EA object as a base for this one, so anything I haven't gotten to yet will still have data corresponding to the Utopiate.
