[Request] - Tutorials/resources on modding sim UI pictures

The Normal Sim Pictures ui mod (modthesims.info/d/624488/update-shimrod-s-ui-normal-sim-picture-1-58-63.html) broke with the infants update, and I haven't run into any updates/fixes for it yet.  Maybe that's because I'm just blind, but regardless, I want to update it, however I don't have even the slightest idea where I would begin looking for tutorials/resources that could show me how to do this.  From what I can gather, I don't think its a difficult fix (just changing the displayed animation state(? idk if thats what its called) for all emotions) but again I don't know where to look.  Thanks in advance.
