- open the package, export the blend file, open it in the version of blender, specified in s4s settings; - select the cap, switch to Edit mode, select everything with A, Delete - faces. This should be an empty group now; - File - Append - the blend file you shared - Object - s4studio_mesh_1; - in this order: select the helmet, then the empty group, join with Ctrl J; - save, import this file back into the package

It worked for me. Do you have s4studio mesh tools in the version of blender you're saving it?
Make sure you did not miss these steps: - open the package, export the blend file, open it in the version of blender, specified in s4s settings; - select the cap, switch to Edit mode, select everything with A, Delete - faces. This should be an empty group now; - File - Append - the blend file you shared - Object - s4studio_mesh_1; - in this order: select the helmet, then the empty group, join with Ctrl J; - save, import this file back into the package

Are you doing it in blender 3+? Like this: In the outliner select your item, then Ctrl select the empty group, join with Ctrl J in 3d view? I would need to see the blend, not the package

The avatar has no skin, so i assume you're opening the old file in blender 3.6. If this is the case, you cannot do this
- in s4s go to settings, change blender path to blender.exe in Blender 3.6 installation folder; - clone earrings, export the blend, open in 3.6, delete s4studio_mesh_1; - File - Append, find the blend you shared, choose Object, s4studio_mesh_1, Append; - delete rig.001 and bone_bone_shape.001; - delete b__R_LoLip__ from the list of vertex groups that affect the mesh; - save, import back
