Hi all, I have made a table, cloned from the desert luxe block of stone. I added slots in S4S but in blender the rig still shows the slots from the deleted mesh - I gather I shouldn't just delete the rig. Why not? I tried it, and the item works perfectly... Also, I have some work to do on the texture/lighting, I know, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on the table. It would be especially helpful if someone could explain why the light on top of the table makes it appear lit from the inside. ibb.co/fqQhJkN - lantern on top illuminates sides but not top ibb.co/vZHb3NZ - dots from previous object slots visible in blender Thanks in advance.

At this point, I could not tell you why a rig is necessary for a static object but it is. It's the same in every game, I think. At least the games I've modded require a rig for static objects. I think if you removed the rig either your game would crash or the item would just not show up. As for your other questions, I couldn't tell you without looking at the file but maybe this will help. Or this. Those dots look like the bones that are in the rig. If it's decor slots that you want to edit go into the Rig/Slots tab in Studio and adjust their placement there.

Thanks so much! Those threads are very ...illuminating (pun totally intended). I have successfully edited the slots in S4S. If I'm changing the mesh, shouldn't I also change the bones?

In this case, you don't need to do anything with the bones. Static items, including tables, are only assigned to one bone: transformBone. Static items aren't animated so they don't need a lot of bones. Things like beds and sofas are animated and do need several bones. So no, you don't need to alter the bones in this case. If you were, for instance, making something for a sim to wear that had longer arms than usual then you would need to move the bones to fit the long arms. 99.9999% of the time you don't need to touch, and by that I mean alter, the rig at all. At most, you might need to mess with weight paint but that's only for things that are animated.
