Why are some of the EA mesh groups the way they are? I know mesh groups are used for transparent part / different shaders on clothes but some EA items have 11 and even 12 cut-out parts and some of them are just single removed faces or chopped legs. Is that something i should be doing or??

Hi. It is done for three reasons: - for cas items to not conflict with each other. When you put a maxis jacket on a sim, bracelets disappear. When a sim wears maxis boots, pants tuck or cover them. Sweaters with high collar hide necklaces and chokers, etc. I think everything beside pants+boots is optional, people can just remove those accessories themselves; - to not exceed the bone limit. You should always do this with clothing affected by foot and toe bones. Sometimes fingers are separated on fullbody outfits for this reason as well; - to assign a different shader, as you said
