Hello all. I am creating my own little mods for mostly personal use for quite some time now. But if need to go in very much detail, and therefore smaller painting like things, the narrower it gets, the more color deformation i get. I know that for the diffuse texture, sims 4 studio is asking for the BC3 Linear dxt5 dds, but.. When browsing onto the forums i found out, that some people have gotten an error message that says the following: “Your texture must be saved as a PNG or uncompressed DDS B8G8R8A8 (Linear, A8R8G8B8) with mip maps. Now if i do the exact same thing, and select B8G8R8A8 (Linear, A8R8G8B8) in paint.net, the file size increases from 2.7mb to 10.7mb and in paint.net the texture looks like this:
And this is how i want it to look, however. When i want to pase it in the latest version of sims 4 studio, it says the following:
Its in dutch, but its saying that it requires the texture to be saved in BC3 /DXT 5 compression mode. If i do such following, then the same texture is gonna reduced to said 2.7mb and looks like this: So, there is a huge huge texture loss in both the violet, pink, red and orange parts of the texture. So. Is there a way, to make the sims 4 studio recognize said DDS B8G8R8A8 (Linear, A8R8G8B8) with mip maps format, so no texture loss is gain? Or is it how it is, and there is no way to actually solve this? Thanks in advance. Greetings from Mara

Hi. A8R8G8B8 is an uncompressed format. It is used with color slider compatible content only. What is the size (dimensions) of your texture?

Hmm, with color slider you say? I just did the following in s4studio: Create cas standalone. Then selected the frontal female tattoo. Then exported the diffuse as dds Then edited the file in paint.net Then resaved it as dds and imported it. I found out that if i save the file as interlaced png file, the results get better, but still its not what i want to achieve, however. Seemingly if i use black lines instead of white lines, and use interlaced png the result look like this: And this is exactly what i want to achieve with white lines. But seemingly im not able to do that without the colors messing up, specifically in the violet, pink, orange, and yellow regard. But, How can i do a tattoo with color slider compatibility then? I mean, maybe then finally i can use that other format, without having to switch to interlanced ping. So can you maybe tell me how to make it color slider compatible? Thanks in advance again! Quick edit: Seemingly i forgot to name the size of my texture, but thats just the normal texture output that i got when exporting the dds. I think it was 1024x2048 or vice versa. But like i said, just the normal size that you get when exporting the dds

First, try to install s4s beta and re-import the texture. Maybe it will look better
When you import png in s4s, it converts, so compression still happens
If my memory serves me well, tattoos are not compatible with color sliders You could make this detail as a makeup, not a tattoo

Hmm, interesting thought of making it a makeup! And i will definitely try to install the s4s beta For now tho the tattoo will look great with these black lines. I already tested it out on my sim, and it looks gorgeous. So i might gonna stick with this. In any case, for later use, i will definitely use your tricks, to see if they help. Thanks in any case for at least trying to help Cheers, Mara
