Hi I haven't made any content in years but I would love to make some necklaces to start off. I made a ton of 2D alpha channel necklaces and earrings for Sims 2 and I was wondering if I could do something like make a 3d necklace by using a tattoo /clothing later and adding a normal & specular layer to give the illusion of 3D? Then somehow get it to sit above the clothing. (That isn't necessarily a big issue) My poor old ADHD brain is very slow learning Blender so I just wondered if anyone knows what I mean and if it's viable. And if it isn't, is there a general mesh I could add and edit the alpha and make all kinds of designs without needing separate meshes for each? Also, which tutorials would help me do this? My apologies for the rambling! Thanks very much for reading x

You could make what we used to call an alpha-editable mesh back in the TS2 days, some that can work for several types of 2D jewelry. A couple of examples, if needed (these are TS2 for illustration - you can click on "show whole set" to see examples on how to use the meshes) www.thesimsresource.com/downloads/details/category/sims2/id/522644/www.thesimsresource.com/downloads/details/category/sims2/id/248924/I'm not sure how well it works for TS4, since the shader you need for items to be alpha-editable is a bit iffy, especially for CAS items, but it should still work. Could also be worth it to know that the designated UV-area for jewelry is tiny, so don't expect good detail unless you're willing to sacrifice other UV areas for the jewelry (or go HD, which may or may not help). You're going to need an accessory making tutorial. If you have meshes from your TS2 days, you can start off with converting one of those, to save you a few steps in the learning process (you still need to remap and reposition and all that).
